Fitting CBE fridge fans (1 Viewer)

Anyone know how this compares to the Brunner vento fan?

Also this appears to be the MCV version. CBE do a tornado 292 version. Anyone know the difference?

The only difference is the control panel which is a different size and shape, but AFAIK it does exactly the same thing. According to to the CBE catalogue the MCV one is brown, and the 292 is dark grey. But that is clearly wrong when you look at Martin's installation, and the supplier lists his as dark grey as well.

Oops sorry yes I am sure it does, I just never think of switching it off as I just leave it in "auto" thinking about it I guess I could turn it right off during the winter and then on in the summer.

It would still have bright lights when it was on and running though.

Thanks again Martin. I am planning to put the panel where it can easily be seen and operated (hence trying to get the "look" of the panel right) so that I can do just that and also switch it off when we are not using the moho. I may well end up switching it off at night as well, depending upon the temperatures involved.

cheers prefer the switch in the 292 version tbh even thou is cost more.

I do too. But if I can get the correct frame to get the MCV to match my other switches and plugs I may well go for it instead.

And by extended I mean about 5-6 metres!!

5 - 6 metres can you not find space a little bit closer than the other end of the van

I imagine you could extend the control cable but it might be worth asking CBE and see if you get and answer from them.

A big thank you to Lenny HB and funflair I have fitted a CBE fridge vent fan today with the help of their splendid advice. This is what Fun is all about, not futile bickering over politics, surely.

Resurrecting this today. Just thinking about fitting the fan at the top vent and wondering if there's anything to stop the control panel being fitted inside at the bottom vent? Is that stupid?

As long as 12v is there when you need the fans I don’t see why not.

You could fit it inside the bottom vent but would need to get the vent off to fiddle with it.

I use the control panel quite a lot and wouldn’t want it easily accessible. We always switch it off when not using the van, and I often put it to Manual (on) when stopped for shopping etc and don’t want to turn on the gas. I think (only think) it is wired to the always on section of the 12v system so wouldn’t want it operating in the drive when not using fridge.

Very stupid unless you mount it in a weatherproof enclosure then it will be a PIA to adjust.

You would be surprised, I find them effective just when the fridge vents are sitting in the sun, used every day in past couple of weeks

Perfectly OK to fit at the bottom of the fridge inside the vent. Mine was there on the last mh and on the present one. You do have to take the vent off to switch it on and off but that's only a few times a year. Once set there is no need to fiddle with it

Yes.

My controller is fitted in the bottom vent and I have never had a problem with it.
All the electrics for the fridge are in there and they are not enclosed.

I have double fans fitted on top vent and that seems to do the trick. Half the time I leave them switched on when the van is parked up and not being used.
