View attachment 337909View attachment 337912View attachment 337913View attachment 337914 I used to stay on a fishcamp called Flakstadvag on the isle of Senja, hire a boat from the campsite and catch Cod and Coalfish up to 10 kgs and Halibut up to 40 kgs. The campsite is now cabins only, BUT, you could always park free in the harbour, and still can. The owner of the campsite/cabins will allow you to use there filleting room and freezers free of charge if you hire a boat from him. (He also is very partial to a drop of Scotch, and will trade boat hire for Scotch).

thanks ive got loads of gear going with me I used to have a tackle shop so got pretty much everything and more lots of it hidden from her indoors lolwinty43
As above ,we fished for food along the way, fat jumbo Mackerel was plentiful.
Pollock up to pansize was caught and kept .
Codling went into the freezer.
Anything too many or small went back .
Locals were catching in abundance from the shore like us .
We found that the deeper water (very clear) around the ferry landings were the best. Or the Atlantic road around Averoy where we went lots were float fishing from the bridge bases .
Tackle very expensive in Norway.
I was using a 14' beach caster. Using a variety of lures and even chesil feathers .
Lots of info on YouTube.
Enjoy your trip.
yes looking to take as much food as we can and catch the rest …...maybeWe enjoy fishing in Norway. Anyone can fish in the sea and in sea water fjords. Fresh water fishing requires s permit and licence which you can normally get online. Sometimes you can get permits from the local shops if not available online.
In order to protect migratory fish when fishing for trout at the mouth of a river you must fish approx 150-200 metres from the mouth. There is a marker positioned at the point at which you can fish. It does vary from place to place though and we were told it can be as far as 1km from the mouth.
Fishing equipment is sold everywhere... in supermarkets, garages, general stores, etc.
Norway is very expensive... £4 for a loaf of bread, £5.80 for 2kg of potatoes, bottle of wine costing £7.00 in UK, £16 here, 2 small steaks approx £30.....you get the picture. We take as much food as we can possibly carry. We left my bike and our dog’s trailer at home just to cram in more food. Obviously we have to buy fresh food here but it has saved quite a bit of money as we’re here for 4 months.
It’s a fantastic country - i feel sure you’ll love it!
