Full fuel & water, all 'fitted' accessories

Front Axle = 1640

Total = 3160

Rear axle = 1520

Well pleased with that, while the van is plated at 3860kg, we hoped to be able to come in under the 3,500 kg to future proof licensing.

Thanks to Lloyds at Piercebridge for the weights

I am no expert but a high proportion on the front axle. What does the VIN plate say for max front axle mass? Certainly lots of payload left.

Sounds like you have an empty garage the Exsis i678 we had we upgraded to 3850, front axle was about the same but we struggled keeping the rear under 2000kg on the rear,
one reason we went for 4500kg on the new van, just hope I pass the medical in 3 years.

Yep all empty including no driver or passenger, mind the rear air suspension was up a little so by making it a little lighter !

I'm hoping you haven't got a Sprinter with a permitted 1,650kg at the front.

We did our first weighbridge visit today too - but we went full - 3/4 full water and 3/4 full fuel, bikes and all stuff for a week long trip - came in with 400 kg to spare !!! The van is only plated 3,500 kg so I guess we must travel light - definitely have spare weight for extra batteries and solar if we decide to fit.

A bit late for this time, but in future, getting weighed with most of what you usually carry, is more helpful.

Thank you ...... what I was after was starting weight, all that is tied down as it was, the rest we can weigh on , golf clubs, bikes, the wife, me, booze, the spin dryer etc

Trade her in for a new model, mine only weighs 40kg:D2
With the payload on the new wagon reckon I should have enough spare for 400 bottles of wine :)

Have you downloaded the Motorhome Weight calculator from resources? It will help you determine which axle is taking the weight as you add things.

Probably not an issue for any of the posters so far, but something to bear in mind. If you give a lift to a couple of chunky passengers and/or a MIL you could lose 300kg at a stroke ;)

Check front axle weight where is your water tank if its in between the front and rear wheels will add a conciderable amount plus other half and yourself could find your self over.

Went to weighbridge today for the first time! And I'm confused! Total weight 3660kg. Rear axle 2040kg.
But I don't understand the vehicle plating! The Pilote disc says 3500kg, beneath that 6000kg. Then 1 is 1850kg and 2 is 2000kg, 3 is blank. Which is the rear axle - I'm hoping it's 2 at 2000 - though doubt it! Duh!

Hi Caroline,

Did you get it uplated to 3650kg as per your plan. If not then it looks as if you are still registered at 3500kg. That said if your rear axle is coming in at 2040kg on the weighbridge then you are still exceeding the legal tolerance of your rear axle by 40kg.

The 6000kg figure is the train weight.

Regards,

Andrew

3500kg MAM (Gross weight
6000kg Gross Train Weight
1850kg Front Axle
2000kg Rear Axle

And you are 160kg over weight , you must not exceed and of the 3 parameters, MAM, Front axle & Rear axle.

Thank you! I thought/hoped no 2 was the rear axle - otherwise I'd be in even bigger trouble!! I would really prefer to keep it at 3500kg - perhaps leave 'him indoors' at home!!?? Its that or the bikes!! Thanks again for your help Andrew!

That calculator is a great tool, highly recommended.

First time for me recently also, fully loaded with all camping gear, approx 90lt water, 100l fuel and with me onboard. 1740kg front 1600kg. 3340kg total with just the wife at 58kg to add.
Mind you, as mentioned earlier, traveling with two extra passengers would put us close to the limit.

Maximum front is 2100kg and rear 2400kg so have the option to increase in I wanted.
