Hi, i have just returned yesterday from our first trip in our new chausson 510. We had a fantastic time, despite the weather.
We had a little wobble on the way up and a quick post to you lovely guys assured us that it was a road issue. It happened again on our way home but we didn't panic and were ready for it.
The motorhome was fantastic, just the right size, loads of storage and lots of living room. A couple of very little niggles that can be sorted out on our dealer visit. The loo roll holder fell off, well part of it, and cant for the life of me figure out how it goes back on Small plate protecting the glass hob cover came off and the velcro behind one of the cushions on the wall came away. We romoved completely as it is not needed. Thats it really everything else worked fine. Not sure why it has so much velcro though. Does anyone know what the velcro on the safety rails are about? Also extra velcro on each side of the curtain with no corresponding velcro. The water leveller has a life of its own, but again a quick post here assured us that was normal. We filled up and emptied before leaving each site. This made it less stressful arriving at a new site etc. Drove really well, fuel economy as good as our 4x4 and not to many rattles
Moving sites was so easy, a couple of bits put away and we were off. On site could not believe how easy it was literally 5 mins then sitting with a cup of coffee. Amazing and really enjoyed watching the caravans struggle that used to be us.
We decided first time out to book CC sites. We knew what we were getting and took a little worry out of it all for us. We stayed 2 nights at Blackshaw moor, lovely site within walking distance of a nice pub. We took the bus to Leek, rip off fare of £2 each way pp for a 5 min journey! Nice bus driver though who dropped us off outside the site on the way back. We then moved to Buxton for a night fantastic site wished we had stayed longer. Then 2 nights at Castleton within a 10 min walk of the town. Finally 2 nights at Chatsworth, we took the bus into Bakewell from Baslow for £2.70 bargain.
Well our holiday was great and thanks to all of you we were more confident with lots of tips and knowledge we have gained. We found that not having a car made us walk much more and catching buses was great. We could just relax and enjoy the view. Then for lunch no worries about having a drink with lunch. We felt very healthy after our trip and even with the constant drizzle of rain some days it didn't dampen our enthusiasm. :thumb:
Thanks for everyones help and we are looking forward to the next outing. In fact my husband Allen said he could carry on and do another week. But pesky work and school gets in the way
