Picking up my new van in 10 days time so got to sort out insurance.
Is it a case of just calling a few and comparing the quotes?
Any good companies for a first timer, also as its a new Fiat I assume I don't need breakdown coverage for he first 2 years.
Any other advice?

Most insurance companies will want to know what security systems are fitted, may actually insist on an alarm and/or tracker. Check with your dealer before you contact anybody. Some reputable dealers have contacts themselves in the industry but I would guess there's always a "bit for them".

When I started with the moho 3 years ago I used Caravan Guard as they allowed me some no claims bonus for towing a caravan for 30 years and a bit more off for subscribing to MMM

Fiat give 3 year breakdown included. Our insurer is NFU Mutual. 01249 655221. They're good as gold with long term staff you get to know.

Comfort operate a Net policy so yu don't need any no claims to get a good price, some insurers will mirror your cars no claims but you have to ask.

I have found Aviva god, who I get to through a broker called grove and dean and a company called Victor Milwell. VM include European breakdown cover which seems better than most free of charge. Worth seeing if you can arrange insurance directly through VM and cut out the broker fee.

Check windscreen/door glass cover.... You need unlimited financial cover.
Some insurers impose financial limits on how much they will pay and many simply don't pay enough.
A screen for an A class (Hymer/Dethlefs etc) can cost many thousands.

Used them for several years, not too many difficult conditions to meet but getting bit pricey. Now with comfort .

Just got cover through comfort.
Was going to phone around but their price was what I expected so to save the grief just agreed to them.
Next year might phone around to compare.
See what the fiat breakdown cover is like but can add it to my insurance within the first couple of weeks with no admin charge.

We've just had our renewal quote from Comfort and it has gone down by £7. We only pay mid 200's to begin with for our Pilote so that's a superb price IMO.

Well done Comfort.
