first time abroad in motorhome

Morning guys,
We are due to set off to Portugal next Tuesday (via Portsmouth - Santander), this will be our first time abroad in the motorhome and was wondering if there was any advice on best route down to the Algarve, and any good stopovers on the way?

When we disembark at Santander, we usually have a night or two at Cabarceno Aire (elephant park). Really lovely, and the wild life park is spectacular! We will also have a night or two when returning. Then we just amble along, sometimes across the top to PT, sometimes down the middle of Spain, no real plans, just using aires along the way.
