MH
Looking to buy.
Exp
Had one in the past but been a while.
Hi all, I've just joined the group and as I said in my hello thread I'm looking at getting a mh for myself and my two teenage kids. I was thinking of going a class as from what I've read (and past experience) coach build are more likely to leak, plus I'm not keen on the look of them and the extra space of an a class would suit me as I will be living in it full time. So, I'll be looking to spend around 50k but don't want it to have two double beds (the kids would kill me if they had to share). I'm fine with the weight being over 3.5 as I drive hgv's for a job anyway. I don't like fiat/pugs or rennos so I think that leaves Ford or mercs. So, if you have any experience with something that may suit, fire away!

I think the majority of A class vans are based on the Fiat chassis, but there are also some Mercs too - some Rapidos and Hymers for example. Not sure if there are any modern Ford-based A class, however?

Good luck with your search 👍

Fords do have a bad rep as they are stolen quite easily I have heard.

If you rule out fiats, you`ll make your search much harder for no good reason in my view.
As mitzimad said, pay for membership and download the buyers guide is a great place to do research on what will suit your needs, some of which you probably haven`t even thought of yet.

A class with twin rear beds, drop down bed up front and a good garage sounds the way to go.
As already said by discounting fiat you cut your choice down hell of a lot, Ford have a bad reputation due to theft issues, some insurers even ask you straight out "is it a ford" before you even start the insurance quote.
Mercs are available but add to cost and if a rear wheel drive you do loose some of the benefits of a double floor.
Cant give any particular models but they are out there. Happy shopping.

Cheers for the replies. I'll look into fiat's etc as well, it's just that when I was a posty we had a new fleet of fiat's and they were terrible. Forever needing to regen the egr. Didn't help being treated to lots of stop start driving but the build quality was poor too.
