"Maurice" joined our last week and we were so excited. He is a Sunliving SP60. We are very pleased. We went for a day trip to Hayling Island on Sunday, it is just down the road. It was great to drive and test him out. We had our lunch inside and after a second walk along the beach we had Hot Chocolate and biscuits to finish off. We are very pleased with the size of him. Just right for Debra and I and of course Archie the Cockerpoo!
On Friday we are off to the C&MH club site at Alderstead for two nights!
So we will be getting used to the following:
Motorway driving
Arriving at a site
Levelling Maurice
Hooking up to the mains electricity
Cooking and heating with Gas
Filling up with Fresh Water
Getting Maurice ready for the night
Sleeping in Maurice for the first time
Getting up to use the toilet in the middle of the night
Using the shower blocks
Campsite etiquette
Packing up
Remembering in what order to turn things off
Being sad when we leave

But most importantly having a great time and meeting new people and visiting new places
And finally having a Gin/Beer!

Any other advice would be great?

Thanks
John,Debra,Archie and Maurice

What a great feeling getting away in your van for the first time, enjoy everything make notes of the little adjustments you need to make, slow your pace down a little to allow for the smaller space of the van, but most of all enjoy ?

Hope it all goes well :)
Our 1st couple of nights in the motorhome (Harvey!) were on the drive
Once the two of us, then with the 2 cats added.
Our 1st campsite stay was for one night at Bishops Green - barely a 10m round trip. Luckily we hadn't hiked in that area before  (with cats)

"Filling up with Fresh Water" that can be done from a tap on arrival but before going to the pitch. Saves some walking. Less useful if the pitch is fully serviced :?

EDIT: doh!! tip share beaten by @Eddystone :)

If I was asked for only one bit of advice it would be-
NO to candles in a MoHo!
Potentially very dangerous plus you just don’t need them!

Don’t forget............if you’re not sure, just ask someone.
I know it’s not very British to chat to your neighbours but most people are only too pleased to help out, particularly if you explain that it’s all new to you.
Even the dreaded site wardens are generally very friendly and helpful.

Do let us know how you get on. (y):giggle:

Welcome to FUN, let the adventures begin.
We too, only level up if the glasses are sliding off the table, our fridge is quite tilt friendly.
We have a checklist for making sure everything is switched off, unhooked, etc before leaving a site/aire saves you reversing over the chair you have put under the van out of the rain (friends not us) making sure fridge is locked, it makes a terribe mess when the door opens and everything comes out as you go round a bend
:blush::blush: that was us.
Have a great trip.

And the cutlery drawer makes a hell of a clatter when it flies open on a roundabout. :Eeek:

Ah well we may be lucky in that, we don't have a cutlery, or any, drawer. an old dishwasher cutlery rack does the trick.

Have a ball, check the bathroom door there nothing worse than the door suddenly opening as your driving along in the dark especially if you have been reading ghost stories and you travel alone......spooky

Well we have arrived at Alderstead Heath site! We had a good journey up the A3 and survived the M25 as well!!
The site is lovely and got some great advice from the site wardens, what to do and where to pitch. They even saved me £7 by not using a fully serviced pitch!??
We then took Archie The Cockerpoo on a nice walk.
However there have been a couple of mishaps on the way!?
1. On arriving at the petrol station, near home fortunately, I noticed that the garage door was open!!!!☹ However luckily nothing was missing?
2. On arrival at the site filled up the water tank. Then later went to do the washing up and had no water!!!! Truma panel was 100% when I filled but now was empty!
Don't know what I have done wrong! Is it something to do with the waste tap ppstion, see below in photo?
Will have to fill up in the morning again and see what happens.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Otherwise we are having a great relaxing time and enjoying MH life!
John
