Hi we have a firestick and CAN get it to work in the moho with wifi from our phones. We have virgin go that works on our iPad but cant get it on the firestick any ideas ?

You have to "side load" it. I did following instructions on here but can't remember how I did it now o_O
Have a search on here see if you can find it, it's on one of the firestick threads in meantime I'll see if I made any notes and I'll post if I find them

Try this thread…..?

If it's like sky go, it probably won't work even if it's side loaded, unless someone on here knows better because they have it working themselves, not read that it works on the Internet somewhere, the only way you can get sky go to work is to run it on a laptop using the tv as your monitor, you can't cast it from android or apple devices and it won't work on a firestick. I would imagine that Virgin will be the same, the reason they won't let it work is because they want you to buy multi room subscriptions.

Hi one thing to add it that I had to use an android phone could not find how to do it with an iphone, also I have now replaced 2 off the VT boxes in the House with Firesticks just need to keep one now, you can have 5 device at any time on VT to Go

I now use Ghost iptv on my firestick and get all the virgin and sky channels for £70 a year (just gone up, as I paid £40)

Plus you get access to thousands of channels from all over the world including sports and PPV

Usually use a mifi unit to connect to the firestck which works a treat but when I try and use my iPhone (which has 100gb data) it cannot find it. Tried scanning the network. Once just by chance it popped up. I have been able to use it in the past but there has been an iPhone software upgrade since - maybe that’s the issue?
Tried rebooting the firestick several times. Any thoughts anybody.

Only thing i can think of is to make sure you have the option on your iphone under Personal Hotspot set so "allow others can join", this is usually all that is needed. Also as another test you could force your phone into airplane mode and then back off so it then starts all the services back up. Apart from that I have no idea i am afraid.

My firestick seems to only work on 4g, it really struggles on 3g.

Then you need to turn down the resolution. Video on a tv or phone does not need the high data rate of 4k, so picking a smaller file to stream will allow it to play without spooling

3g gives about 3Mbits of data per second theoretical maximum
4g gives 8 to 10Mbits of data which is 3 times faster than 3g. This allows streaming of bigger video files without spooling, so long as the network is not too busy

Actually the hot spot enablement was the issue - once I turned it on everything was as it should be. I must confess with particularly the Motorhome, but not exclusively, unless I write the procedures down it disappears from the grey matter quite quickly. Maybe that the issue of being over 90!

Anyone interested Amazon currently have all of the fire sticks on offer…..including the new faster 4K max 👍🏻

From 16 quid for the lite, 21 quid for the normal, 26 quid for 4K to 36 for the 4K max

Something to do with Alexa’s birthday, whoever she is 😉

Quite a saving if your in the market…

You beat me to it. I think some other retailers have also got similar offers eg Argos. I wonder if they’ll be any lower though on Black Friday?

Ghost IpTv are the channels in HD or SD?

but remember, if you only use it in your motorhome and have to access data, then using a firestick at 4k resolution uses far more data, so most people set it for a much lower resolution, which sort of defeats the point of spending more money for the 4k version ! - if you have an older firestick in the house though, you could always move that into the moho and use a newer 4k version at home?

Blimey! I hadn’t heard of that version.
Old 4K v 4K max, the max gets WiFi 6 & some sort of live pic in pic thing 🤷‍♂️
But, more interesting is it has more RAM and a better CPU and that will mean even better app loading and menu updates.
Currently £37
So, imo, the firestick to get if starting out, but not worth upgrading the old 4K to 4K max.
If you have the latest HD generation of Firestick that’s also decent and not worth the upgrade.

Those still on the older HD Firestick might find value in dumping their’s on eBay and upgrading to a new Firestick. Then the 4K max is worth considering.
ALL the current 2020 & newer Firestick range perform well in menus & app loading compared to the older range.
4K Max best (from specs - unverified personally)

Edit: clarity

I don’t know.
I did load a IPTV app once. (Cinema HD)
All the offered content I looked at was pirated. You could tell from the endpoints.
Ymmv but I don’t fund or encourage piracy.
Ghost IPTV will likely have a disclaimer saying they can’t guarantee what you find to watch is legal.

Services like them search for open ports/url to media and host them in a GUI.

There are IPTV apps that are available without sidebar methods but I’ve not needed to look or try.

But who wants to watch a poorer quality picture by setting at a lower resolution, sort of defeats the point as well.

ermm, i do !! SD resolution is fine by me when paying for data via a mobile sim to watch tv/movie/football

i am Spartacus !!

Such a good offer on the firesticks at Amazon. I already have 2 4K. I just purchased a new cube. Fantastic offer of a powerful bit of kit. I’ll use it on my main tv and try it out in the van.

Could you tell on a typical motorhome-sized tv…..?

I’ve ordered a 4K max, I have a few 4K already, but rarely use anything above HD.

However I do have unlimited mobile data which is 5G where available.

My reason for the 4K devices in the past and now the max, is down to the increased memory, faster processors and better WiFi, which is the case again with the max….till they update the rest of the range again.👍🏼
