How are people getting on using firesticks at the moment? I am pulling my hair out with both of mine. ITVX is just not fit for purpose, it plays fine on replay until you have an advert break, then 9 times out of 10 it fails to restart the program, then it forgets where you are, the only way to continue is to restart the program then fast forward to the correct place then if you are very very lucky it might start the program in the correct place but usually it restarts from the beginning. But I do know there are major issues with this program on lots of platforms.

BBC iplayer, this works ok for playing live tv, replay is ok but often after you have played one replay, often it fails to start the next, without closing the program, clearing the cache, then restarting the program again.

Now BBC Sounds fails to start half of the time, and comes up with an error saying try again later.

I was getting this problem with one of the Firestick and I had just bought a second one and did a fresh installation and it is exactly the same, so it is not the installation.
Yes I am using SmartDNS but other programs appear to be working correctly and the sort of intermittent problems that I am getting are not typical of the problems that I have previously experienced using SmartDNS.

Sorry I just needed a bit of a rant as I have been experiencing these problems for over a week now and I have now given up on ITV. I just wondered how other people are getting on.

They are both Fire TV stick Lite with Alexa
 
We have 2FS and only have a problem with itv x so we just put it down to the new itv x It seems to need restarting a couple of times but eventually works
 
It may be that it is not the device but the poor software, itv (prior to x) did exactly as you describe on my Apple TV, so bad that I just stopped watching it. If everything else is working it’s probably not the fire stick.

I've had problems with Amazon prime.
Takes an age to boot then again to select programs.
When they eventually start they often shut down randomly and go back to the resume page.
Internet is running at around 20mbs, usual for us.
 
C4 and ITV have been so bad that I now watch live TV via IPTV. iplayer is usually okay but I have had a few freezes on start up in the last couple of weeks.
 
Use my firestick in Europe and at home,,never any bother..BUSBY.
 
ITVX app causing me problems...had to delete it then reinstall...still will not work on various devices....either at home or van, using VPN..
Everything else works....managed to connect via web page...never had problem until the app was updated to ITVX...
 
Our Firesticks still show ‘ITV Hub’, not ‘ITVX’, and they work ok……
I thought the ITV app would update automatically (it did on our Samsung TV), but I think I’ll leave it be for the time being…… :unsure:

I read their post as they’re happier with the current version and don’t want the newer itvx branded app 🤪

Auto update is on - can’t be bothered to manually update - but I just assumed that Amazon had disable the ITV update until the ‘issues’ were sorted-out…..? :unsure:
 
Turned on tv today, ITVX had disappeared from the favourites, when i found it in amongst the other apps and started it, it asked all the usual questions after a fresh install. It looks like there had been an update that totaly removed the old version before installing a new version (it is now version 2.2.8)

We used it tonight and touch wood all the problems we were experiencing with ITVX have gone,😃
 
Funnily enough ITV X is the only app I can get to work at the moment. iPlayer, YouTube, Netflix won’t work.

When somebody writes software for a piece of hardware like a firestick, they often use software librarys from the hardware manufacturer, in this case Amazon (or whoever makes the hardware for them).

As people appear to be getting problems with apps from various suppliers ITV, BBC,C4 etc at the moment, I wonder if some of the bugs are in these common librarys.

Spoke too soon, it worked fine for 2 days,now its unusable again.☹
 
Oh no!!! I've the ITVX app on my Fire TV Stick :doh:
I'll steer clear though...
'Still got 3 weeks of a free Paramount trial...

Well there has not been any further software updates, and itvx appears to be working again, this appears to tie up with England being knocked out of the world cup, so maybe the latest issues were more to do with network traffic, either causing problems at smartdns or even the itv site its self.
 
Not quite the same issue but may be worth mentioning. We have 3 firesticks and the last one we bought was not functioning properly, I thought. When the grandkids were watching a Netflix cartoon the character voices were silent although background music etc was playing. I could only resolve this my going into the language settings. All other programmes were ok. I was on the point of returning it when I decided to try another firestick on the TV. Same problem! So not this particular firestick then. I eventually sorted the problem by going into the TV sound settings and ticking every box! No issues with any other TV.

Itvx is unreliable on any device, I have it on a new firestick max and also on a Samsung smart monitor and it frequently freezes or buffers, freezing usually happens after an ad break and I have to come out of the app and go back in again. Clearing the cache helps for a while but it soon reverts to misbehaving.

It cant be the fault of the Firestick, my Samsung Smart TV had the same problems last night i.e. of freezing after the ads, as was the case with the OP. This was with us sing the old ITVhub. So frustrating we gave up. Its probably not worth using either the ITVhub or ITVX player for a while, till they recognise that the have a problem and sort it out. We join the long queue of people waiting to hear its sorted.
 
To anyone having problems with ITVX, I’m in a condo in Thailand and the ITVX app was a nightmare, then luckily we had a power cut which meant restarting the router, now it’s working perfect.

Is there anything worth watching on ITV apart from the football? And that's nearly over.
