Finished work at 6 this morning and back up at 11 to head off for the overnight ferry from Hull, thought we would have a leisurely drive down and stop for some lunch so just had a banana for brekkie.

All going well until we hit the A66 which was closed with large tailbacks due to an accident (hope no one is seriously hurt). After sitting for 20 mins and realising I'm going nowhere the good old map came out, managed to turn round and head down some interestingly narrow roads and eventually came out near rippon. By this time I'm starving but decide to head for port as we're now 90mins later.

On the plus side we've just had a lovely meal on ferry and now sipping a cold cider.

Make sure you don't drink the bar dry as we're booked on for Tuesday!

Where are you heading?

Nice one Gerry, first time we used that crossing we commented on how little movement we could feel, 3 hours after boarding went down for our buffet dinner, sat in window and noticed lots of lights alongside, we hadn't even moved by 7

Did they wait for you? Nice one on their part if they did (y)

Have a great trip :)

I think the roads were very busy today. The A38 near Plymouth was moving fairly well this afternoon but a lot of vehicles heading towards Cornwall. I hope they have laid in lots of pasties. :)

At these prices they'll be plenty left so I wouldn't worry :) we're on the Rotterdam crossing and have to say the boat has improved since our last trip on it. If you haven't booked any meals they're doing a deal if you call them we got two buffet dinners for £26, on board it's £21 each so good deal if you give them a call.

We have a long drive tomorrow to Berlin where we meet another Funster couple, we'll spend two nights there then off in the general direction of Poland. We have nothing set in stone just a rough idea that we'll reach Kraków but who knows.

Most of my family history was in Hull. I sometimes go back. Well, pass through. Good bridge, and motorway. Let's not be rude about Hull. Oh, go on, then.

Have you decided which road to take into Poland? Don't use the "road from hell"!!!

Hull, my adopted home, city of culture, loads going on, lovely buildings, the ones that weren't bombed to bits in the war. new ones mostly in keeping with the surrounding areas. Really friendly people.
I'll get them when they come back! :boxing:

I'll give you a hand.

Kingston Upon Hull is the proper name for this lovely place so use the correct name "Hull" sounds crap so lets have a little decorum and call it by its proper name just as Newcastle Upon Tyne is the proper name of my home City. fun!!! fun!!! fun""" p.s. try putting "Hull" in a sat nav and most of them will not find it until you use Kingston Upon Hull.

I've never understood why it was called Hull. Everywhere else "on" somewhere is called the "on" name not the name of the river. Kingston is a much better name, imo!
