Well made over it the Alps fom Austria into Italy this morning. We like Austria but hell its expensive especially in a tag axle. Drove from Vienna to the border yesterday half motorway 2nd half non motorway. Crossed the mountains on back roads through forests with stunning lakes and up past tiny ski resorts and the weather was fantastic. Had to turn aircon off and put heater on full power on one mountain pass as we started getting too hot. But 200 miles took over 6 hours so no saving on Gobox just an awesome drive.
Camped in Jesolo now 20 yds from the beach ehu water waste and sat hook up all for 14 euros courtesy of ACSI. Lovely quiet little site big pitches with plenty of shade. Camping Villa Al Mare.
After the hectic schedule since we left home time for 3 or 4 days doing nothing maybe catch the boat over to Venice on Wednesday. Then a few days in Garda before heading down to Florence and Pisa then its 4 days MotoGP in Mugello.
Keep you posted (y)

Hot here in peschiera del garda. Just talking about visiting Venice so your campsite info might come in useful thanks. Is the site busy?

Love jesolo, if you want to go to Venice , get the all in one ticket from the tabac, think it's about 15 euros return but could be way out , you can then catch the number 5 bus right to the ferry port and the ferry to St marks square is included in your bus fare.

No site very quiet but if you just want to visit Venice camping Serrinissima is perfect and a 2 euro ticket from reception gets you into Venice and back.

Like Jesolo too but not been for 20 years.
Ticket at reception includes bus to dock and ferry to Venice 18 euro. Was gonna cycle to dock but a bit to far too ride back after a day on Venice and its bloody hot as well.

A bit closer to Venice is Camping Ca' Savio (45.447190, 12.465744) which is an easy ride down the cycle track to Punta Sabbioni for the ferries. We've used it a couple of times and could well be back there next spring. It has a beach at the back too.

Another Vote for serrinessma here!

Its easy to get through Austria toll free... Still away, but do a search on here for details

27 degrees today, 29 degrees tomorrow in P. del Garda.
Is that normal for the first half of May?
Has to be on par with the Caribbean, this time of year. Except I expect the water's a tad colder. :D
With this global warming lark, perhaps a late Easter trip (before the hoards arrive) in 2017, is not so daft after all - provided I can find a campsite open. :sneaky:

Hi,
Would be interested to know where you plan to stay in Florence ( or have stayed) as we are travelling that way in June and are having trouble finding a decent site . Not many are highly recommended. Would love some feedback.

Hi
We're currently in Camping Village Mugello Verde big site big pitches all in a forest 25 minutes fron Florence centre on our motorbike. Site is ok got everything we dont need but out of low season stupidly expensive. We paid 18e on Acsi card but on Monday it goes up to 36e because of Motogp then back down to 18e til 5th July then god knows what til end August.
We're leaving on Monday going to Barberino di Mugello again 18e with Acsi but no increase for Motogp week. From there we'll use the motorbike to visit Pisa and Lucca and may even stay there for Motogp. Dont know what that sites like yet remind me if you want an update.
This current site does have a courtesy bus to the train station to visit Florence you definitely don't want to take a MH in there.
Florence is one of the most beautiful cities we've ever visited definitely coming back.

Thanks for the info. Will definitely give the Mugello Verde site a try and will hope to take the train into Florence. We are arriving by ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia at the beginning of June and want to work our way through central Italy , taking in many of the main sights including Perugia, Siena, Pisa, Lucca and ending up at Genoa where we will take the ferry back to Barcelona. We are taking a month and want to take in a few beach resorts as well, if possible. Any updates would be appreciated. Also any pics ?

After 8th June price is back to 18e til July if you have Acsi. Site got pool restaurant pattiserie but a bit out the way without transport but closest to Florence we could find. If you check their website they have 3 sites in the area and one International I think its called is a bit closer to Florence but not sure if it accepts motorhomes.
