Bar the hose on to the fitting and filling from a tap, what do people do to fill the tank by other means..? It’s not as though you can fill with a watering can…🤷🏼‍♂️

Is it possible to fill any other way with this type of system..?

If that is the only way of filling ( there must be an access cap somewhere) I would be looking to get a 12v pump with a bit of hosepipe and push fit connector and a large bucket

If on a campsite for a while (rare), fill up on arrival and top up every other day or when needed with 10 litre watering can with a removeable head. Simples

Unless you don't have a traditional filling point? That looks like a fresh water drain off as its next to the grey water drain off?

And where do you pour the water in????

Quick topups by Watercan, otherwise I use 25ltr container with 12volt submersable pump. Yorks water just lifted our ban 3 days ago.

When I can’t use a hosepipe I use an aqua roll and a 12 volt lift pump like old caravanning days. Can’t be doing with a piddly watering can when the van will take nearly 3 full aquarolls!

The Yorkshire water hose ban never affected the filling up of motorhome water tanks, it only affected the use of a hose for washing it👍 But yes, glad it’s been lifted👍👍

No bans in the dry sunny South.

I prefer to use a hose where possible, and I normally fill up when leaving an Aire or site as we rarely stay more than a couple of days in one place. If staying longer a watering can without a rose and a short length of blue water pipe attached does us for top ups between proper fills.

It’s a underslung tank and no other filling hole, I’ve seen this system before on YouTube (camper vibe) have the same on their van..

You connect a hose on to it and hope you can connect the other end to a mains tap and fill until it comes out of the overflow…

So if you can get near a tap or the tap doesn’t have the right fittings then your up a dry creek with a paddle..😆

Just wondered if someone had overcome this…😎

How about a container (possible aquaroll) with a big enough opening to take a submersible pump and fit connector to connect to filler point.?

Think Just smiffy should think about fitting the normal van side mounted filler with locking cap, then he can use hose pipe or watering can, or anything else that can be lifted and pointed into the hole.
I can imagine it might prove a bit messy or inconvenient to have to go inside the van to unscrew the fresh water tank cap each time water is needed.
I tend to fill up at home and then use watering cans to top up as necessary, one 10 ltr can on each arm tends to balance the load across a rally field or car park.
Good exercise doing a few trips,💪 and you can easily become the subject of conversation between other campers, one lot even placed bets on how many trips I would do to & from the tap to van.
They even asked me afterwards so the bet could be settled.:giggle:

I suppose in theory I could do as The general has done in his picture and have a hose connected from the funnel to the inlet and support the funnel higher than the tank and feed it from a container of some sort, but thinking of past situations I’ve mostly filled from taps on aires ok so I’ll suck it a see..😎

That's the Barratt Tanks fill/empty point.

You can add another filler to the top of the tank, but would need to remove the tank (easy job) and probably add an inspection hatch to the top as Barratt don't fit them as standard. You need the inspection hatch so you can get your hand in to bolt up the new fill point.

About the best tanks I've ever used by the way.

Think I’ll be leaving as it is, and I’ll see how it goes..😎

Are you sure that is not for draining the tank?

If not why don't you fit a conventional filler in the side of your van.
Deffo for draining Just smiffy there will be a filler cap somewhere, exactly the same as ours that setup 👍

Maybe Vantage spec the tanks with a fill point Paul, but as standard, the tap at the bottom is to fill and drain the fresh water.

I used to have the same in my own van, plus fitted a few and worked on other vans that have been fitted by Barratt.

Edit: An image from 10 years ago when I fitted my own van showing the whole system:
