I'm a newbie
Thinking of buying an American Fifth Wheel Tourer approx. 27ft. Has anyone any experience of touring with one and any views?

One pulled up in a Tranquil Parks site on an adjacent pitch the day I was leaving. They had habitation door facing ours and a large dog cage set up. Could have been asked to turn around but we were leaving. You have no movers (I have not seen any) so pitching up and finding a suitable pitch may be tricky.

When we were in Spain earlier this year a couple who were motorhomers had bought a fifth wheel from a local Spainish dealer. They had it delivered to the site ready for them to arrive. On connecting the water it pumped straight through the system and down the toilet. Connected the gas and nothing worked. All the gas lines had been stripped from underneath. Water also came in through the roof.

The contacted the dealer and told them to look at the bottom of the invoice. " Sold as seen". So, buyer beware.

Another chap turned up from the UK with one towed my a VW V8 pickup. He spent months of the 2 months repairing the roof and putting new suspension under the axles. He did say he found problems f8nding places to stay.

The direction the habitation door faces is irrelevant. The C&MC and C&CC both say you can face either direction, there are rules about where you pitch an awning that might determine which way you face but it has nothing to do with the door direction.
