It may well be the case, most complaints about remapping seem to be clutch failure on tag axle vans.Did I see that the new engine is only rated for 4.4 ton loads? What about all the tag axle vans rated above this? Are Fiat limiting their market? Doesn't seem to make any sense!

It certainly seems it's the way things are going .......If true it reflects what a number of other manufacturers are doing - making smaller more efficient engines with the same power output as their larger predecessors.

I recollect as a young boy seeing a Gardner Engine being started up and running whilst out of a "Lorry" on the ground to prove it was all good to te chap looking to buy it.Gardner had it right with the finest diesel engine in the world

Just stick a Ford 2.3 ecoboost in them, more power, more torque, more m.p.g. & similar / less NOx emissions & less P.M. - job done

LPG is the answer, mot results from my 8.1L CO. Limit 3.50% actual 0.00 HC. Limit 1200ppm actual 260ppm

WV too they replaced the 2.5 to a 2.0ltr with a common rail system had more bhp and better everything else.It looks as if Fiat may be about to discontinue the 3.0 litre engine in favour of a 2.3 litre unit with the same power output. The Fiat website still shows a 3.0 engine but it is described as Euro 5+ but the new Euro 6 engine may not come in this size.

Its just nice to reminisce you mentioned Gardeners and my mind went back to that day, I doubt anyone under 60ish would believe that this sort of thing was done and quite normal.

The parent company IVECO are still producing a Euro 6 3.0L which produces 205hp. Maybe not needed in all but the largest motorhomes.
Ford Euro 6 are now 2.0L and it looks like Peugeot and Citroen will use them.

I remember long ago when my mate brought his first tipper, it was a foden 180 gardener and his comments was I spend all day changing gear and it's slow
205 hp from a 3 litre engine. Its not so long ago I used to drag well over 32 tons around with less hp than that from a 10 litre engine. Mind you, they were good for over a million miles before you had to put a spanner on em.
