I’m a newbie
Hi folks, I to change my fiat Ducato 06 headlight bulbs (oblong style not wrap around) and fit LED lamps, anyone have advice on how to remove the headlamps please .
Many thanks in advance ☺

I’ve just changed all my bulbs and headlights and it’s straight forward. Take off grill with the 4 screw topped bolts and lift upwards and out of the bumper.

You’ll then see the 2 same style bolts holding in the headlights. Once removed, you can easily get access to the bulbs.

If you wanted to completely remove the headlights, then there is a locating knuckle that needs tugging to remove from its locating bracket that sits in the wing.

Don’t forget to disconnect the electrical cable.

Hope the pictures help.

PP Bear thank you so much for your help with my enquiry.
Safe travels

I'd be interested to hear if it manages to pass it's next MOT with the LED headlights. If it does I might give it a go. Theres no doubt LED headlights give a much better light, although may be more dazzling if in a headlight that isn't designed for them.

I'm a great fan of LEDs and have changed all my mh lights both inside and out for LEDS, except the flashers as they upset the flash rate.

I ungraded mine with those Halfrauds 200% brighter bulbs, but really need to be out in the dark roads to fully test them.

I looked at LED’s but they need to have something fitted to trick the lighting circuits or the LED’s just continually blink when the lights are turned off.

Also watching to see the outcome.

I also changed my headlamp bulbs. not to the led ones which I believe can cause problems at MOT since the change can affect the beam pattern. I went for the Osram brighter lamps ( that is the correct term , bulbs grow in the garden!) and the difference was well worth the effort.
You need to be a bit brave with regard to the ball and socket joint , it will give way but possibly the plastic socket will pop out of the square hole in the panel, no harm done, just lubricate with grease ready for the next time. A judicious wide screwdriver perhaps wrapped in a rag to prise it out.

Thank,s again everyone, never gave a thought about headlight pattern etc. Lucky I haven't purchased any ( lamps) yet . Has anyone fitted them and had problems mot etc . Maybe the way to go is the suggested route Osram lamps (( thanks Mike) . You lot are a world of wisdom and saved me a few bob ! Thank you 😊

I currently have osram lamps in my UK headlights and they are certainly brighter and bluer. The light evenings prevent a proper test though. If they are good I shall change the ones in my continental touring headlights also.

Copied from the MoT testers manual.

Class 3,4,5 and 7 vehicles

For class 3,4,5 and 7 vehicles, the defect ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’ only applies to vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986.

Should a vehicle be presented for an MOT test with conversions before 1 April 1986 they must not be failed with immediate effect.

Vehicles presented with converted halogen headlamp units first used on or after 1 April 1986 will continue to be failed.

Headlamps must comply with all other requirements of the test and headlamp aim.

The cars and passenger vehicles inspection manual will be updated shortly.
