Can anyone help please? Just turned the ignition on on my Fiat X290 based Hymer and there is no life from the orange square LCD bit in the centre of the instrument cluster. The bit that shows trip, mileage, gear/mode indicator etc. Has anyone else experienced this and know what the fix is please?

Someone been playing with the settings? Can it be turned off in the mode selections?

Not that then it has to be really low for the panel to blank.
Could be worth having a word with Cartronix.

I think you might be able to by pressing the "Trip" button on the end of the wiper stalk.

I have the same today but on a X250, battery is ok so not that, will be interested in the outcome.

Hi Diabalo sent to Cartronix and now all OK apart from being £300 poorer. Better than Fiat £950 plus labour.

Lenny,
i have same problem, does it have to be the whole instrument panel thats replaced or just the small bit in the middle that is causing the fault??,,,John

It is just the small bit in the middle which is a plug in LCD. Not too bad a job if you can source the correct screen. Fiat will only replace the whole unit. The £150 is the upgrade to the existing lights which sometimes stay on or are very dim. However as mine has now been repaired it has a life of vehicle ownership guarantee.

PS took them 2 weeks to source a screen so be prepared to be off the road for that amount of time - starting and driving without the instrument cluster would probably cause untold damage to the ECU.

PPS I have been informed that the lack of screen would be an MOT failure.

Pj, MH passed its MOT without it working, only thing missing is miles reading on the certificate, which says "Unknown". no advisories.

It's a simple enough job to replace the screen, just watched a guy on YouTube do it. The hard bit is as you say finding a replacement. Even second hand ones fetch silly money and you wouldn't know if it was ok or not.
