If you've access to an OBD reader and can get the error codes you could call \ online chat with crash-data. From memory Jean on the phone and Abbey on chatline. They're very helpful.
I borrowed my son’s OBD reader but it didn’t come up with any error codes. I don’t think they all read air bag codes.

Broken most bits now
I must have been very lucky because over the past 20 years I've never had any electronic control unit fail. Every one of the many errors that have appeared have been as a result of a flat battery or unplugging a sensor whilst activated and always resolved with a code clear or at worst a proxy realignment

indeed, they don't. The cheaper basic ones can read engine codes and maybe reset the EML but nothing more

Son just left. Could not read the codes as he has only got free software. He is going to buy the software and I will pay for it! Still cheaper than going to local Fiat Pro dealer

Hi

Airbag error with code B0102-00 Connection to ECU grounding.

Is it likely to be ECU or the slip-ring thing in the steering?

Hi

Airbag error with code B0102-00 Connection to ECU grounding.

Its probably the ECU. I sent my ECU away to CrashData in Liverpool on Tuesday of last week and they returned it repaired on Friday and I fitted it back in on Saturday. Total cost of £79, including VAT and postage, which is a lot cheaper than the new ECU a Fiat Pro dealer will fit for you. Very easy to remove and replace using the photo instructions linked to in post #4 of this thread.

Give CrashData a ring on 0845 021 8674 or 0300 808 8674 and they will advise.

Definetely agree with giving Crashdata a call, they are really helpful and they can advise you. I received my ECU back from them in just over 48hrs
