Fiat ducato
Hi 👋

I've got a fiat ducato swift 2.5 1995 and it's not starting, I've changed the fuel filter still not starting, it cranks ok, I've undone the bolt where the filter goes into the housing cranked the van over and no fuel is coming out. So I'm thinking maybe a fuel pump? Any idea where this is located
Thanks Warren

Have you primed the system? should be either a button on top of the filter or a rubber bulb in the fuel line that need pumping until hard. Don't think yours has a priming pump.

It wasn't starting before I changed the filter and it wouldn't prime from turning it over. Upon further investigation I found there is a solenoid on top of the fuel pump which I've removed as it's broken which could be the problem stopping the fuel. Fingers crossed 🤞

Update so I changed the solenoid and this still didn't help, I'm abit dubious about changing the glow plug as they can be a nightmare is there any way of testing these ?
Or and other ideas before a temping this 🤔

If .as Clivefrog has said , you have the type of fuel filter with the rubber priming button on the top check that it is ok and not split as an air leak there will cause this problem

It does appear to have a rubber priming button please see the attached picture?

Well there's no priming bulb incorporated in that filter housing, but if it does have a remote one, it'll be somewhere near the filter and on the left hand pipe (the one with the black fitting),
An easy way to check glow plugs if you have a multimeter is to set it to ohms and test between the engine block and the terminal end of the plug (just check to see if they all have a similar value) but it won't tell you if the heater plug relay is working, but it does sound like a fuel supply issue ?

Do you have an Orange/Yellow Immobilser "Key Code" light on the dashboard whilst cranking the engine? The old immobilisers simply cut power to the FUEL PUMP - hence, lots of engine turning but it won't actually fire as starved of fuel.
