Hello,

Has any Fiat Ducato 2008/2009/2010 years on a 3.0l diesel engine experienced any issues with their gear box?
I've read any clutch issues and their judder but wondered whether anyone's experienced gearbox problems?
This is prior to making a purchase, so good & bad reviews welcome!

I have just spent over £2k getting my box rebuilt. 2011 113K miles 3 ltr.

On test drive make sure that you go through each gear and, with your hand on the gearlever, accelerate then decelerate. There should be no movement of the gearlever. If the lever moves to and fro as you power then lift off the gearbox is tired. Fiat rebuilt my box 3 times before the warranty ran out then washed their hands of it.
In the end I had it rebuilt by a gearbox specialist as I had the choice of let Fiat cock it up again and lose my holiday, or get it fixed by someone who knows how to fix a gearbox:censored:

we are newbies
We have the 2008 3.0 litre 160 multi jet and the gear lever jumps a bit in first gear ( 18600 miles on the clock).

Had a 3 litre for 3 years. A very fine engine. Loved it and no gearbox issues

About to put our (Autotrail 3lt comformatic gear box: 2010 Fiat Ducato bought second hand with 8,000 miles on the clock.) in for an annual service. The garage do not 'do' automatic or similar gearboxes! I've read the threads till I'm boggled, and am really no wiser, at the stories of Fiat gearbox problems.
Well I would like to know what can actually be done, if anything, if like ours there is a serious judder when reversing on even a modest slope or even on grass.
I cringe when I have to reverse on a slope. Surely it can't be right that that amount of vibration will not harm the vehicle?
Having said that I try to avoid slopes etc. We have travelled 2500 miles, North France etc, always aware of the underlying 'possible' problem. The vehicle otherwise is superb very easy to drive and so on - but is there anyone who can say that we 1. Should not worry. 2. Get it fixed asap. 3. Jump out of the basement window:)

Yes I read that it was only the manual that had problems. However, we do have the judder as described. It makes no difference whether it is in manual or auto.
I would just like to know what can be done. The Fiat people I have spoken to seem to believe I can't drive or do not know how to reverse.
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved
