On a 2022 ducato need to upgrade headlights, drls are an easy led upgrade but has anyone fitted Hids instead of standard H7 + 400% upgrades without an canbus errors. Not worried about mot compliance at this stage.
Funny enough our rears are Led and fronts are candles.
May look into Led units but can only find ebay specials, will call local dealer but will also need coding which will make it £ss

I bought these ones - worked perfectly on my 2019 Ducato

Hi can you tell me how you have got on with this issue, just had our first drive in our 2022 ducato and like you said they are candles, you pay astronomical money for the motorhome and the basic van equipment is crap.

The headlights are terrible, I’ve just fitted led’s and yes I know they maybe an MOT fail but they won’t be in place when I take it in :whistle2:

Careful with upgrades to LED. Plenty of material on the forum on this, but an upgrade may result in MoT failure or (for new vans) reason for Police to effect a stop.

We upgraded to LED and failed. Replaced with Nightbreakers which have been excellent.

Its not the motorhome, its the Fiat base van.
Perhaps Ducato commercial van are not designed for night work and country roads ---- because they are bloody dangerous

Yep - Just three screws?

Hi can you tell me which version of the Nightbreaker Headlight Bulbs you bought .

My van has passed 2 MOT's with LED's I fitted.

Hi Lenny thanks for the information.
Steve

My brother is an MOT tester.
He told me so long as the beam settings are within parameters the tester most likely couldn't care less whether it's got candles or arc lights.
If it's a real concern swap them back for the test.

Fitting HIDs won't help plus they MUST self adjust for level beam AND have a wash system.

They are usually only 35watt so still too low for the CANBUS not to 'see' them.
Regular headlights are 55/60watts

Hi, you didn’t add front fogs whilst you were at it, I am considering doing that myself, see the assemblies and loom are available for about £70?
any hints?

Not sure if you can retrofit as the ECU won't know about them.

You can fit what you want if you wire to a switched live and install a relay.
I've recently fitted 80watt LED spots, switched with dip beam, at front fog light height shining into the verge.
Just wired them through a 30a relay. The relay is so low powered the canbus doesn't know it's there

Agree but he was talking about using exsisting looms.

agreed not 100% legal but grey area and lens need to be EE marked too

fitted phillips H7 70w,

An easy, cheap, legal fix is to swap the stock candles with Nightbreaker lamps, which are something like 150% brighter.

Which Nightbreaker?

Wire the driving lights externally to the ECU. Battery to fuse, fuse to relay, relay to switch, switch to driving lamps.

It has worked on our Ducato, hope it will work for you if you decide to fit the driving lights.

Bought on Amazon in 2020 dip beam and main beam, really nice crisp white bulb just plugged them in and never had an issue.

Which Nightbreaker?
Sorry I don't know because I haven't done this on my Ducato yet, as we hardly drive it in the dark. I did it on my VW T6 and it made a noticeable difference. I would do some Googling 👍

Auto Express have very recently carries out a test.
  1. Philips RacingVision GT200
  2. Halfords Advanced 200% Brighter
  3. Osram Night Breaker 200

I have read a lot, on Fun and other M/H forums, about poor headlights and not being able to see the instrument dials.

Can I just say, that when I first bought my 2007 Ducato vehicle, I too had problems until I removed the swivel on my drivers seat.
I rarely used it and being fairly tall, it curtailed my forward vision.

When it was removed, I was sitting, at least 2 inches lower, and have never had any problems with seeing the dash or headlights since.

Perhaps it's just me, but it might be worth looking at as thousands of white van men/women cannot have upgrades
(most have no swivels either.)
