Does anyone know what CO2 (g/km) the UK logbook quotes for the new Fiat Ducato Euro 6 2.3 150bhp engine...
The Fiat brochure quotes 165-172 g/km but if it's over 170 g/km it will make a difference of £300 road tax on a new motorhome registered after 1st April 2017

I thought co2 emissions are irrelevant for MH As they are classed a motor caravans and PGV in relation to VED (Not Road tax ;) )

it depends whether there is a CO2 Figure on the CoC (and there should not be for a MH)

I can confirm in a couple of weeks as I collect my Euro 6 2.3l 150hp comformatic gearbox pvc in a couple of weeks

That's what I thought but new rules coming into force on 1st April 2017 and they refer to 'Vehicles' and value over '£40K' (I guess must new Motorhomes)
What do you make of attached link...fingers crossed it is just referring to new CARS...Section 6 does mention Other Taxation Classes but I can't find Euro 6 PHGV over 3500kg

there has been a fair bit of chat on here already about this. the dvla position seems unclear at the moment and one could argue MH are going to be caught by the Rfl changes.
however it appears that as MH are classed as plgv / phgv they are not covered by the Rfl changes, which apply to cars

My interpretation of DVLA's info is providing the emissions are not on the C of C no change, but if the converter puts them on the C of C you are stuffed.
Our new van is due in March I will try to get it registered as soon as possible just in case.

Attached are the CoC for my new 150hp Euro6 comfortmatic Globecar PVC
the first is the "final " CoC from Poessl / Globecar / Dethleffs which has no CO2 figure quoted . line 49 says "see CoC Basis Fzg" which i assume is "see base vehicle CoC

the second document is fiat CoC which has CO2 figure of 207g/km urban, 159g/km extra urban and 177g/km combined

i will be careful when i register it with dvla to make sure i leave the CO2 fig blank as i don't want it taxed as a car!

Thanks for that Gerry…
I guess what you are saying is the Final Converters CoC overrides the Fiat Base Vehicle CoC…
Hence no CO2 quoted therefore you can register your new van on weight as PLG…excellent stuff

If it does apply it only applies for the first year when registered. After that it would be £140 per year. So, whilst a one off £300 is better in our pockets than theirs, it's not the end of the world in the grand scheme of buying, owning and running a motorhome for a few years.

no, you are wrong.
In the event your final COC has a CO2 figure, in yr1, you pay a first year “punitive tax” based on the CO2 rate - perhaps up to £800-£2k depending on the actual emissions,. then for years 2 - 6, you pay £140 per year tax, plus £310/yr Lux tax for being over £40k, therefore £450/yr each year for years 2-6, then it falls to £140/yr from year 7 onwards

I stand corrected.
I've read it again... didn't clock the £40000 bit.

However, the text at the top of the page refers to 'vehicles' and the table below refers to 'cars'. Whether it applies to motorhomes which aren't 'cars' will remain to be seen.

Let's hope not.

Edit: and the £40000 bit refers to 'vehicles'. I'm confused.

Exactly the case with mine, which has the same engine as you describe in the OP. No CO2 on the V5, classed as PLG on weight, £235 pa VED, as before. The changes from 1 April refer to cars.

However it's UK made, not a Dethleffs, so I'm not sure what they'll declare for your V5.

I'm hoping to have it re-plated as PHG, which will reduce the VED to around £165 pa.

it all really hinges on whether the final converter CoC has a CO2 Fig on it - if it does, then it is likely to attract the high VED rates, if, like now, the final CoC does not quote a CO2 fig, then the status quo should remain.

it will be interesting to see how single stage conversions such as the VW California are treated, AFAIK, they carry a CO2 fig on the final CoC, so are likely to be liable to big VED bills.

Can't see VW putting it on as they stopped doing that after they got caught with the T5's in 2006/7 getting 500 pound road tax bills. Since then they leave them empty.
