I received an email from the dealer this morning updating me on the build of my new PCV. I have gone for the option of the dead-lock safety system but the dealer now tells me I can only have it if I add the Fiat alarm which will only accepted by British insurers if I have a SmarTrack S5 tracker. This will be fitted by the dealer and will carry an annual subsription.
What should I do? Cancel the deadlock option and have a better alarm plus tracker or go for the Fiat option?

I would suggest a conversation with Vanbitz before you jump in. There are many happy customers on here.
Good luck and safe travels.

As stated get in touch with Eddie at Vanbitz , you will get a whole lot more and better fitted value for money setup ; and a discount if you are a paid up member of this forum …think it’s a PVC not a PCV 😉

That sounds like a load of tosh and I would now be worry about what else they are trying to sell you as extras.
Your insurance company will usually only need a Thatcham standard alarm fitted and maybe a tracker if its a very expensive van.
Tell them not to bother with any of it and buy your own after market alarm system often for less than £300.

If the Fiat alarm is thatcham approved, you don't need a tracker for most insurers

I’d second the advice to contact Vanbitz for any alarm, immobiliser or tracker installation as it will be MoHo specific and not adapted car or van components.

As an aside LV insurers did not require an alarm or tracker to be specified to a £95k MoHo, just a dash cam and reversing sensors!

Thank you to all the respondents(y). I spoke to the dealer today and cancelled the deadlock option. They can fit me an alarm system and a tracker which I'll get a quote for closer to delivery. I will also look at Vanbitz.

We’ve got The Growler fitted, but also got these fitted after seeing how easy our Fiat locks were overcome……..

The guy travels to fit, and I think there’s a discount code somewhere.👍
