I have a 2013 Swift Bolero on a Fiat Ducato , a warning light appears on dashboard for “ check glow plugs”
It isn’t showing constantly but appears fairy regularly, I am having no problem starting the van.
Can anyone tell me if this is a big job for a garage ? What should I be looking at for a price from the garage to fix and is it a long job for them?

Can't answer your specific question but I have had the same issue on my 2014 Fiat Panda since new.
Took back to delears twice and fault quickly returned. As you said never had any issues starting (even in deep winter) so have learnt just to live with it.
Obviously not a Ducato but possibly a Fiat issue.
Just a thought.

Have it on my autotrail apache 700 but it always starts

Similar to changing spark plugs in a petrol engine, you can test them if you have a multimeter. There are lots of YouTube videos for this.

Cheers!

Can be extremely more difficult than a spark plug IF they have rusted in as they can possibly snap off. Have a look at YouTube would be my advice BUT remember, on a X250 Ducato, the Glow plug sign on the dash can flash for 20seconds after starting. This is to assist when cold.
Perhaps it's the same with later models?

Is that the preheat light or as OP was asking the "check glow plug" warning.?

I ent sure whether it's worth answering here , as i'm sure someone will shout me down , but i'm gonna answer anyway , and then ignore the thread completely .
I get constant warnings on the heavy trucks i drive , and in general ignore 90 percent of them . The reason is it's almost certainly a computer glitch . This problem began with the introduction of the self diagnostic system on ecu's . More prevalent on older vehicles , where plugs become worn , or where other thing's not quite working as it should . The chances are , there is nothing outta place or wrong , as would seem to be the case here .
Basically your being lied too .
Now i don't fully understand the workings of the diagnostic system , as i only have one vehicle with it fitted , and yes i do get false warnings with my power steering . I've wasted many hours with false warning's in the past , only to be told , there's nothing wrong . And this was by mechanics far better than me . The result is , i don't like the dam things , so won't buy a vehicle with it , as i figured it would become an issue with the mot at some point , and a constant source of expenditure .
Now basically , as it was explained to me , the diagnostic system works by measuring voltage , and resistance within a preset range . If the ecu detects an unusually reading it throws up a warning , whether the unit is working or not . As usual i've ignored my problem , which is likely resistance in a plug somewhere , confirmed even more so , as the warning only emerges during damp weather , the power steering is electric . I suppose i should track it down , and sort it for the mot . As any warning is an instant fail nowadays , but frankly , i can't be bothered , plus right now , i'm bogged down with my own motorhome .
When these systems first emerged , it was difficult to find a tractor that didn't have a problem , normally an egr issue . It has improved recently , but even so i still get false warnings on the heavies i drive . On the more comical side i've had warnings where my third axle brake linings were low , and another on an artic , where the trailer fog light was none functional . In the first case , i didn't have a third axle , it was a four wheeler , and the second , well that was hardly surprising , as i didn't even have a trailer on the back .

The 'glow plug ' light is also used to indicate other potential faults on some vehicles. I had it on a Transit connect.

Thanks , for the responses, the warning has gone again , I have a MOT tomorrow and didn’t want the extra expense of fixing an issue that is only a warning light.
I am driving to Spain through France at the end of the month, I just didn’t want an issue that would disable the engine.
