Fiat Ducato Campervan conversion 1991 gear box replacement.

Hello.

I'm currently on the hunt for spare gear box as it has lost it's 2nd&5th gears. My mechanic's quote for the job is £1800 including labour and reconditioning ( London prices ) and I've got the concept of organising the gear box out side of service place and simply ask to installed once get one to hopefully slashed few hundreds down on the spending.

Have anybody tried that ?
It's there a place to get this part on the market still ?

You need to look for a Ducato breaker there is one near me but I am in Leicestershire.

Don't forget that Fiat Ducatos of that year were very similar to Citroen/Peugeot/Talbot machines of similar size, engine size, installation and tune. You are better sourcing the code for the gearbox rather than the engine or a brand - because there were so many.

There are other forums specifically for Talbots...

As Bill said, check the linkage before doing anything more drastic

I lost 4th gear with my Ducato on the A9. Unfortunately all the linkages were good. Gearbox sent to Glasgow for a refit and repair. You want to consider replacing your clutch whilst the box is out also.
New clutch, refit and repair gearbox inc. transport and labour 1,750 UKP
