Help needed please. I replaced the entire offside wing mirror indicator lens and bulb, joined the wires and covered in electrical tape. All of the lights work correctly on the offiside but the warning light comes on and the relay suggests one of the lights doesn’t work? Any suggestions please to rectify? Final point - the lens I replaced had melted onto the bulb. Could there be a bigger issue? Thanks in advance.

Have you got a towbar? I recently had a problem with the microswitch- it was thinking the plug was still connected when it wasn't (relay was flashing quickly)

edit- please ignore now i reread your question

Never seen a road light lens melt to the bulb..... Interior lights yes, but never external.
It sounds to me like the bulb is far too high wattage which would cause both problems.
Front & rear indicator bulb... 12v 21w
Mirror possibly 12v 5w

I replaced the full electric wing mirror on a Ford and had to go on the diagnostics for the vehicle
To recognise it.

Any messing with the wiring throws up a fault due to high resistance. Your original fault may be corrosion in the wiring connectors, particularly the one down low on the pillar by your knee. Hidden behind a plastic panel of course, but regularly saw bad earth points and corroded connectors there

There are two different mirrors which have different wat bulbs
One has the outside air temp sensor fitted

Does this mean I need to take it to a garage with the diagnostics software to fix? Thanks for your input.

I had the issue when I bought our van
The options are change to the correct mirror or you may be able to fit a bulb of the correct wattage but the bulb holders are different
You could resell the mirror you remove
This is assuming that is what is causing your issue but it sounds like it
The mirror that has the temperature sensor has a small pip at the bottom that's not on the others
