fiat compass drifter.

Hi. all. Ihave just aquired a 1996 fiat compass drifter, and i was told by the seller that everything worked. but found out that nothing works at all.
there is no leisure battery or any gas .
and the oven door has come off in my hand ...addvice please. Thanks all.

It depends on whether you bought it from a business seller or a private person.

I wouldn't worry about the battery as it's probably knackered!

Your gas should have a regulator manifold and pipe work to the cooker heater etc. If not then you need to find a gas fitter to reinstall...not a bad idea anyway as the rubber pipes may have perished.

If he misrepresented what he was selling then you have cause for redress.
Have you got an advert stating everything works / excellent condition etc ?
Of course actually getting redress is another matter but CAB may be able to help.
How long have you owned it ?

do you mean you have no 12v power to appliances or gas coming out to appliances or that you actually have no physical leisure battery or gas bottles?

It's quite normal to sell with no gas fitted for safety reasons and the battery also sometimes isn't included. Maybe the seller should have been clearer what was included when selling.

i week . and already had to replace the starter motor.

have yet to connect to electric with hook up. but have empty gas bottles or any battery.

That’s a bit tight if the battery has been removed. In case you need to revert to legal recourse I would get a cheap lead acid battery connected and a gas bottle and then see if everything works. did evrything work on hand over?

no. he just took my money then disappeared.

I would be back and ask for an explanation of how everything works and be prepared to leave it there asking for money back if he won’t / can’t and if you are still in that returns time scale. If it was a “good deal” and you like a project I would start with a battery and gas to see what does and doesn’t work. It might not be as bad as you fear. Good luck.

Is the dealer a Motorhome dealer or just cars ? If he isn’t a Motorhome dealer he will have no clue how anything works. Suggest you get back and speak’ to him and see if he will give you £100 for a new battery
