Hi,

Does anyone know of a Fiat dealer that can and will do an extended warranty to 5 years on a Fiat based Motorhome

Nobody seems to want to know and I’m on 14 days since registration

Tried Fiat Customer Services who sent me to a dealer that said we don’t do extended warranties !!

Thanks

Don’t know where you are in the country but you could try Motus Commercials. They have some Fiat Professional dealers in their group. The Wrexham branch did mine. Straight forward enough.

Check the small print re cover abroad. Don’t think the extended warranty includes Camper Assist either (I stand to be corrected on that).

Chelston were prepared to do it for ours, but you had to apply within ten days of the new vehicle going live. I chose to not have the extra three years as the cost @ £888.61 seemed a bit steep for what is effectively, breakdown cover. I might be proved wrong, but I am hoping to be able to purchase breakdown cover at a better rate in two years time when I will need to renew it.

Dealer called Adams Morey of Portsmouth were certainly doing them. I believe the contact there is called Simon not sure of surname though...

If it is just for the mechanics, try Motoreasy.com. I use them for my car but have never tried them with a motorhome.

We pestered Fiat mainly Camper Assist people and eventually they put us through to Adams Morey of Portsmouth, all sorted but only just within the stupid timescale, they suggested just contacting various Fiat dealers but they did not have a clue. It was a tedious and painful process.

If it is the Fiat extended warranty then it includes extended Camper assist (..well ours does :giggle: ..) , the people we dealt with were Simon Potter and Dan Clack at Adams Morey , although this was all 3 years ago. So probably changed now  It was MOPAR Fiat Professional, www.fiatcamper.com.

Fiat themselves will give you additional cover for a price, circa £800 but does include UK & EU assistance & recovery.

Suggest contact Fiat on 0080034281111 Be AWARE this is a free phone call from a landline but an international call from a mobile.

This is the extended warranty I’m after. I contacted Fiat on that number as my Motorhome wasn’t on the system either. They told me to go to a named by them dealer which I did. They put vehicle on system but said they don’t have anything to do with the extended warranty. So waiting for them to respond about where I can get the extended warranty !

Be aware the Fiat extended warranty is a limited time offer (unless circumstances (as in our case) like covid lockdown) prevent you signing up.
I was told the dealer should have sorted this.

However suggest ring the number and ask to speak to Amanda, have found her to be most helpful with a previous motorhome.

Alternately ring 03301 280 211

Their service dept is also very helpful and may be able to advise a solution.

but only just within the stupid timescale,
I was told the short time period was because the extended warranty must be seen as part of the original purchase, not as an after purchase insurance. An after purchase insurance would be regulated by the FCA, Fiat are not registered with the FCA and would have to jump through so many hoops that it is not worth their effort.

Most Fiats are sold by garages that are also Fiat Professionals so they can do the whole deal at point of sale. Some motorhome sellers, such as Chelston, can do it at point of sale because they are also a Fiat Professional garage. As such they can also do Fiat warranty work, servicing and recalls. This is one of the reasons I chose to buy from them.

We received a similar explanation, but Fiat could do more to assist the customers/converters in taking out the extended warranty such providing a piece of paper with the CamperAssist booklet that explains who to contact and what to ask for.

Not sure if this helps the OP re Extended Warranty -

Our van ( Auto Trail V line 600 classic) is almost 5 years old and we have had MB&G ( third party) extended gold warranty insurance for the last 2 years for the base vehicle & hab area. We only qualify now for silver which caps a claim at £1k and we wonder if it is worth continuing with the cover. These guys specialise in motorhome extended warranties. Costs us around £295 pa. we bought second hand & had balance of AT 3 yr . warranty

Personally inclined to forget 3rd party warranty insurance as:
Statistically they make money so avg cost of breakdown less than premium,
Suggest post manufacturer's extended warranty, put premium in a savings account just incase.
