Hi

Sorry to be pursuing this again but when asked in with a question about the extended warranties this aspect got left behind with only a few responses.
,
I'd like to think that its because Fiat's don't breakdown!

Anyway good or bad would be appreciated.

Had to use Fiat assist in Spain approx 10 years ago due to leak on transmision fluid resavoir(comformatic) within 45 mins they were there, took to Fiat Proffessional 20 miles away, 4hours later back on the road. They did temporary repair as it meant waiting 4 days for part and 1500 miles later got the new resavoir fitted in the UK.Excellant service. Reception on campsite told the Spanish driver the problem and one of the employees at the Fiat Pro garage spoke good English.

Hi there

I posted a thread a couple of days ago saying I couldn’t get through to fiat assist breakdown. Flat battery in the middle of nowhere and my Halfords power pack didn’t do the job. Waited for 2 hours and never connected. Cut off each time after about 30 mins.

Anyway if I was in Europe I probably would have been panicking.

Leaves me a bit unsure for the 3 months I am taking off to Europe in February 2023

Fiat Ducato still under warranty just over 2 years old

Any views ? This was the number 00 800 34281111

Thanks

Fiat assist recovery is dealt with by the RAC UK breakdown service where ever you are in Europe. Look on internet for number.

Alternator died in France, van just 3 years old with 5 year warranty. Contacted RAC who totally refused to deal with me saying we only cover breakdown for the first 3 years under warranty. Had to phone Italy, fortunately it was during the working week. Took our details then someone in Italy kicked some ar$e at the RAC and after 5 hours we were recovered.
The camper care is excellent it's the RAC which is the problem. Even though we were in France you have to go through your home country for recovery.

Hi Bolti

I did see your reply in the other thread, thank you.

I am planning to go to France and Spain in April next year in my new MH knowing the warranty includes Fiat assist and I would like to have done so confident in that part of the package which at the moment I am not.

Not a lot of response has been forthcoming about the Fiat breakdown/recovery package which could be good in as much as there aren't a lot of Fiat breakdowns or indeed because I have specifically linked the question to the Fiat package . Many owners are using other insurers for their cover.

I am now considering additional breakdown cover with another insurer in an effort to try and cover all the bases.

Hard call as I hate to pay effectively for the same thing again.

You could be paying twice but getting the same recovery company anyway, should you need recovery.🤷‍♂️

The ironic part is we were 100m from the fiat garage we were recovered to, but could not see the enormous fiat sign for the trees.

I've emailed RAC customer service earlier today asking ;-

1. Them to confirm they act for Fiat based motorhomes both in the UK and Europe whilst they are under warranty Fiat warranty.

2. Asking what the correct procedure for using this service and the correct phone number.

Hi
Just to add to my last post, no response from RAC to date doesn't inspire!

Not strictly true. Fiat breakdown cover only covers the Fiat base vehicle. What happens if the motorhome becomes unusable because of a problem in the habitation area, the driver is incapacitated for some reason, etc. There are breakdown covers which will include all these scenarios.

My travel insurance covers me for being unable to drive, or ride my motorcycle back home, not my breakdown cover. However, there are elements in my MH, car, motorcycle, breakdown and travel insurance’s that overlap.

But I’m sure their are insurance products for most needs.👍
