Just wondering if anyone has any advice/experience regarding where to have this service carried out?

My van will be due for this service in April and I live (Glasgow) a long way (300 miles) from the supplying dealer.

I have heard reports of Fiat garages not being very good, surely this can not be the case?

Any advice please?

If you have an Iveco truck garage in your area then I would go there, they will have vast experience and they will probably service local authority vehicles such as ambulances.

Always take our to Peugeot Dealer, its a hell of a lot nearer than the MH dealer + I have no faith MH supplier, as Brian said they're not mechanics (an not much else either)

Do the oil/filter change myself but would NEVER go to a dealer. They only know how to sell and dupe, not service and repair.
Your local garage is normally more considerate to keep your business so generally offer good value. As rolandrat says find a truck service centre. After all it's only a Ford.

Have a couple of days away and go down to Geo's in mansfield

Find a local garage that looks after local trucks and buses.
That's what we do use the lads that looked after my trucks, far better skills that main dealer or motorhome dealer and a fraction of the price.(y)

Maybe try the Fiat Ducato Camper app if you can, it will find the nearest suitable Fiat garage

Our local Peugeot dealer is considerably cheaper for 1st & 2nd service than local Fiat, that is by a quote on the phone. they also state it won't affect warrantee with Fiat.

This page will find a Fiat dealer who does Ducatos. http://www.fiatprofessional.co.uk/uk/Find_your_dealership

As discussed here before you can in theory take the vehicle anywhere and not invalidate the warranty but an independent may not be up to speed in recall work which will be done free of charge by a "proper" dealer. Mine had some quite extensive mod work done on it when it went for its first service.

I believe somewhere on this website you can enter details of your vehicle and find out if there are any recalls applicable. Not sure where but I think it is the My Ducato bit but you have to register, which I haven't tried yet: https://www.fiatcamper.com/en/home

I checked with Fiat Glasgow today and they want £395 for the 30000m service  How does that compare with Peugeot?

460 from local Peugeot dealer phoned around got it down to 390

About three times as expensive as Geo an

About three times more than Geo and you will not have had a holiday.

The only difference with using a Fiat main dealer is you get the vehicle softwear updates and any recall notices.

Checked local M/H dealers who did servicing and local Fiat Proffesional garage, about £20 more for Fiat garage. For peace of mind went with Fiat

We only had 15k miles on ours at 2 years and took it to a Fiat Professional dealer as we wished to keep the warranty

(yes I know it still is under warranty if serviced by an independent but wanted to cut out any possible problems with Fiat if a claim arose)

They decided at that mileage a small (oil and filter) service was only required.

Next year when out of warranty we will probably use a independent HGV/van service company if Fiat Professional are not competitive in price.

Our local Fiat dealer only wanted to do a low mileage service for the van's second year service, because it had only done 12,000 miles - cost about £150 + or - I recall.

Oh, and we have the habitation service done by the local Chausson dealer, because there's a 5-year water ingress warranty, conditional on having it done by an authorised agent.

Not exactly a Fiat 500 is it. So a local Fiat dealer may not be able to physically get it in his workshop. A truck specialist is the answer. As for MH dealers, they're all liars and crooks and then there's the bad ones.....

Mine is due the two year service in another month and I fear it is going to cost about that much.
