  • As I change engine oil every 20 minutes thought I'd buy some sump plug washers, the garage has done it up to now and I can't find detail, Mr Google Coming up with 2 sizes, without taking it out I reckon it's this one, thanks
  • Inner Diameter: 22mm
  • Outer Diameter: 30mm
    Thickness: 1.5mm
Fiat Ducato 1999 2.5 TD fitted to Hymer B574

Go to halfrauds and buy one of each size.. go on, spend that 80p !!

Change oil much more often than I need I'm sure, as for Halfrauds (well named) they are £1.99 I was thinking of buying several for my little box of treasures! plus the nearest store to me is 15 miles, every day in every way I'm trying to be less tight, As kermit said, it's not easy being mean.

This is from the Europarts website with info for my Ducato (2.3td)

Changing oil too often can be as bad or worse than infrequent changes

All modern oils have a detergent component in them.
That component takes ABOUT 2000 miles to dissipate..
So changing oils too often means you are running the engine on a detergent oil which is not a really good thing..
As an aside, if you do get the right size I can get the washers for pennies BHS.. happy to get them and post em to you at cost

Thanks Martin, that will do nicely

Thanks Jaws will get back to you when I confirm size, I have been in the habit of changing the oil before each long trip, perhaps I should just do the one change a year? We rarely exceed 6000 annually.

Use these. They seal better initially than copper or aluminium and can be re-used.

Smaller quantities may be available (I didn't look very hard) and they're also available from agricultural machinery repair places. In case there's one local to you :).

Even that is a bit ott..
I know people who SELL oil will tell you differently but after 15 years on the spanners I have yet to see a tin of oil with a sell by date on it..
The folk who built the engine know best.. What do they recommend ?

My mate bought a new 1,9 LDV van & religiously changed the oil every month !
Used to come out like Golden Syrup , same as it went in.lol:D
I doubt that he did 300 miles a week. Still going well when he retired some 7 years later.

I just go to the boat yard and get my copper washers 60p each (y) can you send me your used oil it still got 10k left on it
