hi looking at a fiat ducatto with a swift sundance 590rs body. Its 10 yrs old and only done light mileage 40k.

But my question is would a 2ltr diesel engine be big enough and economical or should i look for bigger

Our 2l Burstner works fine but needed an ECU re-flash.

Check it well for damp.

25 mpg.

We had a lunar newstar with a 2.0 litre engine. 84hp is ok but the remap put it up to about 110 and the added torque just made it so much nicer to drive. Well worth doing on that sort of engine.

As Brian says - very thorough damp check is a must - even pay someone to do it. They know exactly where to look

Whats typical mpg for one of these ?

I got about 26 mpg out of it. Reasonable driving but it is about 3000 rpm at 60 as I recalls. Got 26 mpg +/- from the Euro 4, 3 litre A/S with overcab and also about 26mpg from the A Class Pilote on a 2.3.

A lot depends on how you drive it, really

Edit - if it is your first van the would suggest researching a lot on the subject if you haven't done so, or better still, pay a professional to do it. We checked our Lunar before buying and thought it was OK. It wasn't and cost a lot of money to fix
