Hi there,
We have what I would call the standard roof vent,
I want to know if you can buy and install just a fan upgrade, i.e. not change the outside cover, or tamper with the hole that's in the roof etc?

I have been looking online, but I'm not really clear on what to do,

If I have to remove the complete current assembly, then I don't know if I would bother,

but if I can just remove the internal parts and slot the fan in the middle I would.

When I disassembled the vent for cleaning, I noticed that there are unterminated electrical cores.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks
Andrew

Might give you some ideas

We've got a freestanding fiamma fan- sits in the opening under opened window, held by 4 small metal clips.Powered from t.v. socket nearby .
Bought it just for hot weather and it's been in our garage at home for two years.
Maybe one day I get to travel in the heat instead of the rain...

I understand it maybe not want you want to read, but swapping to a Maxxfan is a brilliant, and easy upgrade. Wish I had done it earlier.

Interesting read about the home made ones,
I would rather install a less DIY one, not that I don't enjoy tinkering....

Something like this,

I just wasnt too clear on how this effects the vent opening mechanism,

but on this picture i can see how you get round it

I think i will have to take mine apart and investigate!

Thanks
