I have a problem with the wind out awning on the van in as much that when i use the strap across the awning when windy it pulls the legs down i have tightened the lock nut as tight as i can by hand and it appears that it is metal to metal contact has anyone had this problem and was there a way to cure the problem.
Thanks Chas.

If its doing that then maybe its to windy too have the awning out! never had a problem with the awning legs collapsing using the Fiamma straps that clip in the front rail and that was in 50 mph gusts admittedly from behind the van.

I have found a similar problem and assumed that I was probably over tightening the storm straps. I had considered drilling a small hole through the leg and fitting an R clip

I cut a couple of washers out of a plastic milk carton and that helps the grip.

I think you are risking damage to your awning. If it's at all windy we just wind ours in. Better safe than sorry .....

a was told never to put a strap across the awning as it can slice the material, much better to use the fiamma system that clips to the front rail with two separate straps (like steve n tracy)

For that very reason, I use the storm strap over the top of the side arms, but under the fabric.
Also got the Fiamma straps for the front rail, but rarely use them.

I should have said the awning is the zip type and has the full awning fitted to it so the extra weight and the strap plus a bit of wind is the reason the legs dont stay up as they should.
