The awning fitted by the dealer seems not to be bracketed where fiamma says. See pictures. I know in the real world that there has to be some tolerance over manufacturer's requirements but wondered if others have any experience of this before I tackle the dealer.

As you can see the bracket is not where the manual says it should be. You can also see a reflection of the sticker that it should cover. But is this a problem? - Both brackets are fitted like this.

Is it because the indicated mounting point on the instructions is obstructed inside your van ?
Not as far as I can see. There seems to be lots of room for brackets to be moved though the awning may need to be shifted a few inches for the back bracket.

Anyone else able to comment on this awning fit/misfit. See pictures above.

One of the mounting brackets on our awning is not fitted at the prescribed place in the fitting instructions and in the four years we have had this
van I'm not aware of and problems it has caused, so I would not fret to much about yours.

The reason for the mounting bracket being fitted in the position indicated in the fitting instructions is to reduce or stop the twisting moment on the casing at the shock absorber.

As long as it's close to the arm pivot point it'll be fine - certainly not worth trying to correct it by drilling more holes. Is the one at the other end in a similar position?

What's inside of the van where the sticker position is, maybe there's something preventing them drilling holes in that exact place ?

Not going by the answer in post #4

Yes it is.

I'd be happy with it.
Then so am I. I'm just being careful about everything cos we've recently bought the van and I'm still checking everything out. There was a bit of a cock up with the awning as it's a different type and different size to the one we asked for but felt it was a fait accompli as holes were drilled and sikaflex applied.

I worried you could always bond a block of plastic to pack out behind shock.

Perhaps it was better for the inside aesthetics to bolt on there. That way no bolts were seen inside. Maybe using the exact mounting points would have left bots visible inside as opposed to them being hidden in a locker.

Nope. Checked all inside. I reckon it was just sloppy work. Probably the drilled for the front bracket the found that the rear bracket spot was covered so moved the rear 8 inches and hung the awning equally. They then fitted a rubber rain guard that I hadn't asked for because without it the light from above reflects the "support" sticker onto the side of the van. A cover up job. To make matters worse they siliconed the rain guard to the roof when it's supposed to just lie there. Now I'm hoping I can get the silicon off.
