Ferry to Spain When does '90 days' start.

I have booked a crossing out to Spain. It takes two nights as crews change in France.
Does my time in Europe (90 days) start?
a - Day 1 when I board the ferry and leave UK
b - Day 3 when I arrive in Spain

Thank you for that. I was concerned that it operated with EU controls in UK before boarding.

You should get a stamp on your passport when you go through customs at the port in Spain and this will show your entry date…

We’ve had this argument discussion before. It’s when the very nice customs officer stamps your passport in Santander. The Channel and Bay of Biscay is not in the Shengen gang

Came through a week ago and I can confirm it's when they stamp your passport in Spain.
