Have you looked at the tunnel? they only charge for a motor home might work out cheaper and quicker.
You have to buy 10 crossings with frequent traveller which would not be any good if you can't use up the other tickets.

But you could always find a partner on here and split the crossings with them.

Is that with dfds ? I've been with them and I've put in 7m while being slightly over.... p&o have been cheaper recently and they have more leeway on length... I've never seen someone going along measuring vans... tunnel is good but more £'s

As @Speve has found, if you book a short stay saver on the Eurotunnel you can do it for less than £150 return

Eg, go out 1st Dec 05:50 and return 5th Dec 09:50 £144 total

You can go out this Thurs for £82, and come back Mon for £72.

I used the December dates as they encompassed the Lincoln xmas Mkt that you mentioned so thought you might be free to go on those dates. These ones are only £10 dearer in total if you're set on this week. Thurs is early am and Mon is either early am or late pm crossing (for the cheapest price).

Just looking at the Tunnel site for pricing they have options for "campervan" or "van over 3.5m". As a newbie which would I book as? There is an appreciable price difference .

Yup.. I hate to think how many hundreds of thousands of pounds the ferry companies are loosing every year with this ruling.
I am but one but they loose about £500 from me alone every year
Was a time we would not THINK of using the chunnel. Nowadays, with diligent Tesco points gathering, the return journey costs us less today than we used to pay 5 years ago on the Ferry
Oh and we are not exactly big on the Tesco thing.. I got us both a Tesco credit card and when in the UK they are the only cards we use.. The occasional fill up and maybe a weekly shop once a month at most ( Woman far prefers Sainsburys

This year we got £70 off the return chunnel fair..

Just lie, never been or seen anyone check the length. Years ago they had a deal where it was cheaper if you pulled a caravan, so I booked that deal, I was never asked "where's the caravan" at check in.
