Great news! I wonder how much it will cost and if pets are allowed.

When I was on cargo ships we carried passengers, for a premium. Transatlantic it was cheaper to fly Concorde.

When the ferry did take passengers friends of our used it as foot passengers, they were £88 each, quite a few years ago. Fastest way to the continent from Scotland is Newcastle (North Shields) to Amsterdam (Imjuiden). We've used this though it is expensive, nice overnight trip and arriving at the right time. Last year we used the tunnel as we probably will this year, long way to Folkestone though.

Having worked in the industry I know there is not enough demand for tourist traffic from Scotland and the North of England and this is unlikely to change. The only passenger ferries operating in Scotland that are not subsidised are the Cairnryan ferries to Northern Ireland, this is why they appear to be so expensive.

Think I will stick with the Newcastle route
About an extra half hour drive for us and about half price
It's good that at least they are offering it as an option but cant imagine they will be inundated with enquiries
The boat they use now is not the same one that used to run when it first started as a passenger service

Just checked the costing and for 2 adults with 8 metre moho it's £1600 return !! Would save a couple of hundred pounds on fuel, Dundee to Dover but seriously its no wonder they have cabins available at that cost !!

They used to run this a few years back and didn't get the custom so it stopped.

Was always too expensive even for freight it was cheaper to drive south.

Looks like a different outfit now though as it was superfast ferries running it last time

Bill I crossed from Newcastle to Amsterdam last September and it cost me just over £400 for a return journey with 2 adults. I know its more expensive in the summer but the most I've paid is £570 return.

Hi Bill
We are £540 return from Newcastle for autumn including meals but that was booked as soon as they became available
For us its worth it re the time and fuel saving of heading further south
I'm also happier not driving on both sides of the road on the same day
As long as you remember they are ferries and not cruse ships its fine

It has lasted longer than the Industry expected, there was little competition up there. The vessel will be out of commission for a while and the traffic will go elsewhere. Difficult to get it back so it's time to walk away.

H. It was a while agoi.
Been on a Ferry Immingham to Europort with a lorry a couple of times, lots of unaccompanied trailers, but shared cabins about 6 beds. In those days it left tea time (Dinner on board and breakfast) and you berthed about 06-08.00 hrs.Check if it still goes,it was a while ago.
