Hi, We are planning to go to France for approx 4 weeks in September. We have looked at the prices of the ferries/eurotunnel but as we live in Dorset feel that probably ferry would be our best option. Are we best booking now or waiting till nearer the time in the hope of offers for September? Looking forward to reading your advice.

Hi Patch,

If you are a member of the Caravan Club, you can quite easily get a return ferry (DFDS) from Calais to Dunkerque for around £48, especially if booking in advance. Other clubs may also have a discount arrangement with the ferry companies. DFDS direct often gets you the same return ferry crossing for around £54, especially if going out on a Sunday, and returning on a Friday.

Good luck with the planning.

Cheers,

Jock.

Not so useful if he lives in Dorset and is going to Brittany.

The extra mileage and wasted time my well outway the initial saving in the cost of the ferry.
