For change layer this year I am going to roscoff via the ferry and working my way back to calais or Dunkirk for the ferry home. Has anyone had trouble accessing the ferry regarding the rear of the motorhome bottoming out on access ramps?. Many years since I used the ferries and I have since had a towbar fitted thanks in advance

At most of the major ferry ports the ramps are hydraulically adjusted to the ferry heights and tides, so no problem.

With minor ports and with higher tides, eg. Scotland, the ferry crew are aware of the problems and can provide thick mats to make the transition smoother - they do not want you to get stuck and delay departure. I take my towbar as a plus, because if it scrapes that is a warning, but no damage to the bodywork.

One way to minimise grounding is to approach the ramp diagonally.

No problems on cross channel ferries. The only place we have had a problem was on a ferry across a Portuguese estuary.

Had a AT Scout with a big overhang, tow bar and Atera Strada 3 bike rack.Went to Ireland and France on various routes and no problams

Whilst in Scotland last month we met a couple with an East Neuk Fifer Touring L that had the waste tank ripped to shreds coming off the ferry.
They were on their way to Fife to get it repaired.

It is far too low to the ground I had a good look.
