We are due to collect our IH630RD on Thursday for our trip to Spain on 20th October. Yes, we know we’re daft.
Nick entered the VIN number on the Fiat website just to check re the warranty malarky and it is 3 years. One of those Red warnings came up, oh dear. Contacted IH who contacted their supplier who hadn’t been notified by Fiat. They investigated and apparently it is “ a brake hose clip that needs replacing as if it breaks the brake hose can move and may wear out more quickly “. This was IH from the Northern Commercials. IH know if Northern Commercials can do it before Thursday and said we could get it done locally if we like. I have said I want them to sort it. I don’t really know whether it’s one of those “must do now” problems or “get done soonish” problems. We have previous experience on warranty work of having to wait weeks for parts.

There is nothing on the DVLA or GoV website about this recall so I was thinking if they cant get it done to just carry on and get it done after our hols. If Nick had not checked re the warranty we would have been oblivious.

There are loads of mechanical folk so advice please? If we weren’t going on hols we’d obviously leave it with them. Our other option is to leave it with them anyway but annoyingly we registered it from the 1st October to increase the chance of the V5 arriving so the warranty is of course now ticking!

Doesn't sound like a safety critical fault as if it breaks the result is the hose might just "wear out more quickly" not fail immediately. But try and get it done before you go at a Fiat Professional garage if your dealer can't arrange anything. If you can't, then arrange for it to be done after you get back.

Its a ten minute job so they may be able to slot you in.. But do NOT worry about it.. Apart from anything else think of the 1000's out there who know nowt about it... its not worrying them !
If it was THAT critical it would be all over the red tops with 50 point type 'FIAT RECALL FIASCO' !

Had mine checked recently. It is a quick check and it may not need a new clip (mine was OK). Take it to any Fiat dealer.

Good news , Northern Commercials are going to look at it before we pick our new IH up from Yorkshire on Thursday. It will save us having to sort it out when we come back from Spain. Our nearest Fiat Professional is Adam Morey at Bournemouth, we’ve used Adam Morey at Southampton who were very good for an Aircon problem when the Bournemouth branch’s machinery had gone wrong but even Bournemouth is an hour and a half from us, why it says 1 hr 10 mins I do not know.

Thank you for your reassurance, we felt safe to go but at least this saves hassle.

Looking on another thread, which I can't now find, the garages don't have the parts yet and are advising to book in when they are available.

I’m aware of it but can’t get booked in before we leave for France on Friday so
I’m just pretending I don’t know about it yet ....

If Nick is trying to get out of his round at the Villasol bar tell him this excuse is very poor..:rofl:

Pull your fingers out, my flights already booked. ?

Ps. Hope you get it sorted and something less to worry about.

We are trading in our current IH630RD so there will be a very nice gold one for sale shortly, very good condition!
