Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
We are locked down in Kent site. Must be lots of picking vacancies soon. Where to find them?
Keep us active and cover loss of rent from our flat let.
And the chance to pick your own veg would be good, unless you were unlucky enough to find yourself on a sprouts farm. :(

Try Kent Orchards nr Faversham various fruit and veggies. So you won’t have a boring diet and there is a site nearby if they are allowed to open if not I am sure you can park in one of the hundreds of orchards. Good luck

There are Strawberries now in Sussex, I know that because I bought some from Aldi! All early fruit is in Pollytunnels , where you spot lots of tunnels will be a demand for pickers. Luckily all the strawberries are in waist high troughs these days , no more bending double . Late April May and June is Asparagus. Lincs, Cambs and Vale of Evesham. Also soft fruit there.
Cherries late June, everything else from then on .

If there is a flood of labour I don’t think that the bonus will be that great. There will be hauliers scraping over the work that is available and the rate will drop . Container drivers for instance will not be doing a lot at the moment, tippers will not be doing much if the sites are shut.

Here you go.
Applicants can apply through the Concordia, HOPS and Fruitful Alliance’s Ethical Labour website.

Workers will be at least paid minimum wage and many farms pay National Living Wage or more, depending on how much fruit and/or vegetables they harvest.

To date, more than 14,000 applications from people all over the UK have been sent in – with 50% of those coming from people who have lost their livelihoods due to coronavirus.

On reflection I think we will leave this to younger generations. The idea came from getting free of lockdown but some months away for main season.

Strawberry farmer on TV today says they will be looking for pickers soon in Hereford. They are raised beds under cover so not too backbreaking. There are a lot of fruit farms in the 3 counties area, Hereford, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

I guess it depends where you live or if you have your own accommodation as you would not get much social distances in the normal farm accommodation
