Hi,

Hoping the wise people of Motorhomefun can help here.... Attaching a photo in the hope of showing my dilemma

I was tempted to get a Maxxair deluxe fan to cool down a wee bit in the summer abroad but the roof windows are of a weird size and I'm reluctant to cut any more holes on the roof because I'm worried about weakening the roof (stupid?) and because of the padded roof material inside which I think I read someone had said it was difficult to cut?

I did think maybe could use the 2 wee ones either side of the long narrow one but they're in the toilet and shower areas so imagine they won't actually do the job I won't in that situation?

I'd be glad to read some opinions from anyone if possible

Cheers

Iain

That looks a good option! Haven't seen that before maybe just not looking hard enough 🙂
Ta muchly for that

I have the same arrangement of three totally different roof lights. Luckily the one you have in your shower is in the bedroom in my layout and I think its standard 40x40.

It'd be great in the bedroom could fit the maxxfan, just thinking it might be a waste in the shower?

Fitted one of those in our main roof light only paid £50 for ours. It's OK for the money but nowhere near as good the Fantastic Vent we have as well.
Could d do that Lenny as we have two large vents one at the front and one over the beds at the back😥

Thanks for the reply Lenny, can I ask if you had a similar roof setup before fitting the fantastic vent? If so did you have a new hole cut in the roof to accommodate it, and was it an easy job to fit it?

Factory fit its in the front of the bedroom about 2ft in front or the bedroom rooflight so doesn't do much for the front of the van. Our main large roof light is over the kitchen.
Nowhere near as good as our last Hymer where the main roof light was over the lounge and the Fantastic Vent over the kitchen that worked great at cooling both lounge & bedroom.

I think Maxxair fans are available in more than one size. This links to the manufacturers web site for more info on the range.

That's good to hear, over the kitchen is kind of where I was thinking of one, would another hole in the roof effect the structural integrity would you think?

Yeah but the deluxe one is max 400 I think and these odd ones I have aren't that size. Ah well, food for thought. Thanks for everything everyone!

If will be fine as long as its not close to another roof light, those bonded roofs are strong.

You have two big rooflights so looks a bit close. What are the measurements?

Yeah that's what I was worried about, I'll check in the morning and get back, thanks for your patience!

I would just fit the Maxxfan in the bathroom. Ideal place for it. Unless the door to your bathroom is airtight.

Just wondered if it would give the required effect in the lounge area if it was put there though? Door is one of those plastic slidey ones, tambour I think it's called, so that's not a problem.

Yeah I think you're probably right.... Ah well, guess there's still the fiamma option, and as Andy says maybe in the bathroom, better than nothing!

I think it would. Ours is above our kitchen , we then open the windows a crack, or pop the roof drawing nice cool air across us/the room I wouldn’t want one in the bedroom. As obviously noisier the nearer, and the Blind is a bit crap on it I want dark.
