On and off for many years.
It has an aire.

I've not stayed on the aire so can't say how good it is but the wheel is a fantastic piece of engineering. It's worth walking to The Antonine Wall as well when you are in the area.

Thanks guys. I had asked on the Uk site as well . Got impatient with all my maps spread on the kitchen table eager to sort out our first two stops in September.

The Wheel is amazing. The winter I house sat in Scotland 2010/11 was the coldest/ one with most snow for about 40 years. The canals were frozen solid --- not just a flimsy bit of ice on top, proper solid. There was some water when you got in the tunnels but even that began to freeze.
The views are beautiful and the engineering in the wheel just fantastic.
I want to go back.

Another thumbs up for the wheel.
Would suggest a visit to see the "Kelpies" whilst in the area. Probably about fifteen minutes away and I have heard that you can take a boat trip from the wheel to visit them but best to check.

My daughter lives close by and we have been many times, and the Roman Antonine Wall, the Romans did not stop at Hadrians Wall, as we were taught.

The Kelpis are stunning too, much more interesting than the Angel of the North. You will also pass Arria the tall lady statue by the M80.

The Scots seem to like putting these statues up all over the place ..... Where do we think Alex Salmon will end up?

The Auld Toll Tavern in Grangemouth closed down two weeks ago.
Pity as I liked to drop in for a pint now and again

Common sense prevailed at Gretna, cancelled because of the ridiculous cost. (y)
