(n) Hi all,
I'm Glen and my wife is Carol, we moved originally from static vans to tourers then to our little campervan/ motor home bought last year of which we both love very much. We could use some advice on wild camping, particularly around Northumberland & Yorkshire area. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks:)

Welcome aboard.

I've only ever overnighted in 2 places in Northumberland, neither really wild but they might be worth adding to your little black book even if only for lunch stops:

Beadnell 55.55222 -1.62916

Radcliffe 55.30666 -1.55889

Both coastal.

Hello and welcome.
It might be worth trying 'Private Messaging' or personal recommendation for wild camping locations. Giving them out on an open forum might render them inundated!

Hi
We spent around 10 days in March in the Yorkshire Dales... All on sites as we are new too and haven't yet got the courage to wildcamp yet. (Apart from once in a decent lay by near Shap en route to Scotland but we arrived at 10 30pm and moved on by 8am so there seemed no need for a site) In Yorkshire we did quite a bit of driving on the smaller back roads and saw a number of places that may be ok for wild camping particularly if you have a small outfit. We had no problems parking anywhere either in car parks or on the road in towns, villages and beside rivers and at the start of walks. Although there were 1 or 2 of the more popular villages in Wharfedale where it may be tricky if it were busy but I think if you go with that mindset and out of season you may be ok. Bank holidays summer and weekends may not be so easy though!

Hi
Thanks for your reply, like you we are a bit aprhensive about wild camping having not done it before but I guess you have to give it a go. The Yorkshire Dales is one area we are looking at for next week. Thanks again for your input.

Hi and welcome, had a romahome for 7 years, but only ever 'wildcamped' on friends drives after a party. Have done a couple of times in the last van but not in the areas you are asking about.
