External Signal Boost Antenna for 4G Router?

Poynting MIMO 1-1 is a popular choice for the Huawei

Might be a good choice for yours 🤔
I went budget & chose a cheaper internal aerial. I still need convincing if that’s helped. 🤔

Have a look at this thread, full of useful info.

Has your Huawei got one socket or two? (two is better). I purchased my roof mounted antenna from Badland and have been very pleased with the results.

Hi,

can someone recommend an external antenna for an Huweai router please?.

mots not to extend the WiFi, it’s to increase the reception !.
Not sure if I am allowed to point to the Classified Ads, but I just put our spare one up for sale there, does exactly what you want!

Do you have to connect both cables ?

We have the Poynting MIMO very pleased with the results, not cheapest but it really works well.

Do you have to connect both cables ?
MIMO means Multiple In Multiple Out. Two aerial sockets on the router, and two connections to the double aerial. Two is the minimum, there are some MIMO routers/aerials with four.

Stronger signal, less affected by noise, reflections, fading etc.

Its an interesting antenna, you dont have to connect both, but as said you can connect the 2 to the 2 out on a Netgear M1 for example as I have, although the M1 will work with one antenna connection too. However you can connect one to your LTE router and the other to your wifi device like a Ubiquiti Bullet. You will need some adapter connector cables which are readily available online.

Here are two that I am considering. The second is a bit dearer but I find it hard to decipher the gobbledegook so not sure if or how much better it is than the first.

If it's for a house you may be better considering a directional aerial rather than an omni-directional aerial that the previous responders are suggesting. Guess they assumed it was for you motorhome.

Hi and thank you.

thing is, I am not sure which way I would need to point it !

or do I just watch the bars go up ?.

neighbours have those small dishes that look like mini sat dishes. But all point in different directions depending on provider.

One use Movistar like we do

The Poynting one I think is the replacement for the MIMO-1 which have and it is very good & a bit cheaper than the MIMO-1.

Rechelt looks good but has loads of features you probably won't use.
For 3/4G the gain is slightly higher around 800MHz which is the bandwidth often used in remote locations as lower frequencies carry further.
The Wifi might be useful if you use site Wifi a lot.
5G, going to be years before they roll it out anywhere other than large towns.
GPS could be useful if your satnag keeps dropping its signal.

A couple of directional ones here, one with 9db gain the other with 11db, bear in mind the gain is quoted before cable loss so you are really looking at half those figures, the Omi ones are cheaper but only 4db gain.

One of these for me... https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32839875643.html

MIMO 3G/4G with 5m cable and fittings for £14.

I needed an N-type plug for my repeater but many others are available with different cable combinations on the same site. For inside of the MH I used an adhesive T bar Antenna that fits discretely at the back of a cupboard. They typically cost around £1.50 from the same site.

Looking at the spec I would say it's pure fiction even the best aerials don't give anything like the figures they are claiming.

I have an app called Network cell info and it will show a map of which cell mast your phone is connecting to, that way you would be able to point a directional antenna the correct way.

A directional antenna is best if you have line of site to the tower. If you don't, for example you are surrounded by buildings, an omni is best as it will use signals reflected off walls.

Hi...I got the antenna for my motorhome here: https://www.co-star.co.uk/products/antennas/

I opted for this model with the integrated GPS antenna as I was also fitting a new head unit with satnav and didn't want to fit an internal antenna:

The intention was I needed connectivity so I could work from the motorhome so, I replaced the existing TV antenna with this so I didn't have to put another hole in the roof. I now get a full 4G signal at home where I normally struggle to get 3G on my mobile. If your MiFi router has an wifi output then you can also antenna to extend range.

I found the company very good and always happy to answer questions.

We have a Poynting A-XPOL-0001, Operating Frequencies 790-960 , 1710-2700MHz, We download films from Netflix , very rarely it slows down , like 4 times over 16 weeks . I assume it also due to where the Masts are and where you park the Motorhome also, but my son got for us as I'm not technically minded . I stuck the Aerial high as Possible on outside , originally I put the duel cable through the door aperture and shut the door , that damaged the out side of the cable I then put it through the Driver's door window and gently shut the window, as I may change the Motorhome , the aerial is held on by suckers , but, you can remove suckers and screw to body through sucker holes . In very high winds the top suckers gave way but aerial hung on , better to screw it,

I measured the signal strength received with/without and it seems pretty close, even accounting for cable loss.
