My current aerial set up is: Status aerial to Status signal booster then to TV outlet point behind the television.

I would like to add an external aerial connection point for where it is available on site.

To avoid fitting an additional TV outlet point. Can i connect into the back of the existing TV point behind the television, while leaving the existing set up in place, without any reception problems from the booster and van aerial

I have seen lots just put the aerial lead through a window and straight into the tv, could be an option if it works for you although I’m not a fan of that method.

Im not a fan of wires and cable everywhere:(. We once had a Pilote withe the 240v connector high up the side of the van, when the wind blew and whacked the cable on the van it was like sleeping in a drum. Not going for that option with a coax cable.

Run it to your booster and switch as necessary?

Would a signal from a site need to go through the booster? Im afraid I'm not a TV whizz.

We've used one of these for a few years -

Window closes fully over it. No real degradation to the signal and much easier than installing an external socket.
The coax going to the bollard connects to one end with a short flylead connecting from the other to the input of you tv booster. The output stays as is from the booster to the tv.

You just put a weight on the cable to stop it banging against the side of the van.

Have you got a photo of your current tv outlet?

I’ve wired mine so that wire from external point (next to ehu input) runs up to the booster/splitter. When on site and using their aerial I just swap between my aerial input to the external wire at booster, That way I get it boosted, and at both TVs.

Thinking back a bit I'm pretty sure a member on here did a very comprehensive guide when he installed an external aerial socket next to his ehu input (as @Landy Andy ) on an Auto-trail and I think it may have been @Stewart J ?

Thanks

Our has an f type connector under the EHU flap which then runs to the SAT outlet behind the tv. We also have an aerial and booster which runs to the TV outlet in the same place. I just switch over as necessary.

Makes sense. Do you just unplug one and plug in the other as needed? My booster only has one input.

I was wondering about using the sat outlet behind the TV as it's not currently connected to anything.
Then connect the TV to the sat outlet when hooked up on site, wether it be TV or Sat. I doubt i would ever need to connect to both, even if the site offered it.

Unconnected behind?

If so just use that to run an external point to and swap as required.

Yes you can and to make the job even easier F - TV coax plug adaptors are available.

Thanks everyone for your help on this.
Job now done.
Connected outside connector to the spare satalite connector behind the TV.
If using site signal for either TV or Satalite I connect TV to that. Or if using roof Status aerial I connect to the original TV socket.
