Having spent the last 10 days in the UK we now realise why people's attire on UK campsites (the ones we stayed in) was 1 piece rain suits and wellies.....

So on the ODD occasion we need outside water ie to wash the dog or perhaps muddy bike and this really is only once or twice a year it doesn't seem to justify installing a proper external shower point and i wondered about just using our flexi hose (the one to fill up the fresh tank) with an adaptor so it will fit on to the shower hose (may need some smart thinking to find a solution for that) and then just using it outside with a hose gun on the end. Not as elegant or convenient but it may work. The only real downside i can see is managing the water temperature and flow rate from remote.

Anyone else done this or similar ?

Now back to a more civilised 28º and dry conditions.

Trust you to go in the autumn :giggler: after all, they have had two summers already this year.
Janie prefers to have flying visits, I prefer not to have to go. :doh:Bob.

I haven’t done it but I have just tested putting the normal shower head through the window and I think it would be very handy for washing the dog!

Thanks for the idea ?

We put it through the window on our last van, this one doesn't have a window.
But will have to look at extended hoses, good idea. Bob.

Day 1 was great so we went to Chatsworth and after that rain pretty much most days, how do people cope ?

I'll post up my adaptor piece once i've fettled in together:)

Our Hymer was specced by the dealer and included, amongst many other extras, an external shower in the garage. I thought we would never use it, but was wrong. Used it to get buckets of hot water to clean all sorts of things like windscreens, shoes, outside furniture, BBQ and tools, awning etc as well as doing hand washing of cloths.

I got another shower hose and a mini shower head with valve, then using a male/male 3/8 connection I put the hose out through the back door

So my idea isn't original then, but at least it seems like a good idea (for once...)

We found out about a year ago that the head on our sink tap could be pulled out of its housing and a lever on top turns into a spray head. It’s long enough to point out the window and use.

A pretty standard feature on most european kitchen sinks, sadly not in our van though.

Still need to sort that adaptor piece, it's on my list.

I was lucky that the water pipes run under my bed and the external hatch is at the side. So I added a T piece into the cold water, a valve and then a curly hose. Works well but only on cold obviously.

You want something like this to control the flow unless you're going to shout instructions at the Mrs to turn it on/off :D2

Just screw it on the end of a normal shower hose. Turn the taps on at source and you just press the lever with your thumb to start/stop the flow at the business end.

You could just get a portable 12v shower and use it with a bucket, that way you can put in whatever temperature of water you want and do the washing wherever is convenient rather than at the side of your MH and make your pitch soggy.
