Hi gang! We’re heading for Southern France in a few weeks time and want to stop around 5pm in a nice spot south of Chartres on or close to N154 between Chartres an Orleans. I‘m looking for a small town/village with an Aire/parking for our 7m Autotrail Apache. Ideally the spot should have a Boulangerie, somewhere local to grab dinner and a bar full of locals. What experiences/recommendations do you guys have?

TIA!

Russ

Shaking a stick comes to mind ;) :giggle:

Hi Chaser I think that’s the Park4night app, I’ve got it thanks. I’ve trawled through a lot of the sites but haven’t found any mention of boulangeries, restaurants or pubs/bars. That’s why I’m looking for a recommend.

Cheers!

why not try and get a spot along the river at Chartres itself, easy walk over the bridge into Chartres, lots of bars, shops etc - if you cant get a river park up, there is an overflow area about 200 yards away on a large car park, you can still use the facilities of the river park up for emptying/filling though!

We travelled up country to Chartre just over a week ago.

We overnighted in a lovely quite aire in the village of Cormainville which is 35 minutes south of Chartre.
The aire looks to be virtually new with services and it also has a new build covered barn with a couple of picnic benches in the barn to escape from the sun if it is to hot.
We were the only van there that night.

Aire in Chateaudun. Near Chateau and centre ville so should have what your looking for.

RustyRuss are you aware of the Chartres en lumières ?

We were in Chartre a couple of weeks ago and saw the laser moving light show to music that's projected onto the cathedral and other buildings in the town, it is well worth a visit to see after dark.

There is free aire with no services which we overnighted on which is about a 25 minute walk to the cathedral. There is a campsite with services just up the road if you want to pay.

We use Marboue for a lunch or overnight stop. Just off the road and opposite a park. Baker just up the road.
