Nearly every time we go away something goes wrong. The fridge stops working or the boiler won’t fire up…. Every time I have to get the tools out and fix something. SWMBO looks at me with the “why don’t we sell this thing and fly somewhere hot instead” look . We do both enjoy motor homing but really 😡. This morning the boiler wouldn’t fire up so we had to wait for me to fix it with pajamas on removing air intake, changing gas bottle etc, in the end I removed fuse and it reset and worked. Please let’s have just a few trips problem free.

I'm afraid you're not on your own. Thank goodness for superglue and masking tape!
and a hammer and an adjustable spanner ..... and the mini-tool set that came in a Christmas cracker that I carry in my handbag much to everyone's amusement - until they need it!

I feel your pain! This weekend I discovered a tiny crack in the water run in our shower tray...water appeared in the motorhome! We are away a week on Saturday so need a quick fix!!

I’ve seen another post on here about fixing cracked shower tray, I’m sure there’s a product for that 🤞

My first proper trip, and I was glad I had put my socket set on board, also glad of the hammer that was in the mh when I bought it, also the 'WD40' that I left on board just in case I had time to try and get one of the window cassettes off to repair the blind.
They were all used to get a broken (and stiff) steady back into travel position.

Duct tape for your weekend away. We used some bathroom silicone to mend ours until we came up with a permanent solution (replaced the shower tray ).

I had a week without leccy so nothing would work , bought ice from supermarket to keep fridge cold boilt water in kettle using gas had to light manually as ignition is electric. For both washing me and dishs, washed hair in bowl and beach shower to rince it. Did use bottled water to flush loo when required bit used public conveniences as often as possible. One thing I did learn was take lid off salad crisper and put ice in there, then when it melts its contained and not leaking all over the floor. Posh camping no tent :giggler:

Speedcoat is the product for shower trays. I used a lad from north wales he came to Stockport . Fantastic product looked like new only slightly textured. Some on here will slate it but it was good for us.
Google it i think it is a franchised product.

I changed the alternator in a layby just outside moreton in the marsh a few weeks ago but other than that I've had 6 ok years with this van 🤞
Surly you didn’t have a spare in the wagon ?

It would appear that the modern vans are far more temperamental, needing a good battery before you can have either heating or hot water.

Tell me about it no leccy no fridge (it won't light ) no pump for loo (its leccy) no lights (good point you cannot see how bad you look)

Sadly...yes
Van came with a 90amp one but I got a 120amp one during covid, didnt get round to fitting it and it was in the gas cupboard.
The weird thing is I had fitted a new one to my mates the week before when his failed so I had 'practised' the swap

I don’t mind the expense, it’s the hassle I don’t need 🤣

That stuff only fixes hair cracks and won't take any flexing. Since you are going to have to replace the tray anyway, sand the crack well including areas either side and get a good dollop of epoxy in there. That should take a bit of flexing and stop any water getting into the van.

We always have "the list" of problems encountered along the way.The latest one is a hab.battery dropping not once, not twice but 3 times to 9 volts!! It is a 300 Ah AGM battery which is HUGE.I don't know how it has the nerve! That it might be faulty is to-days understatement.

RAF mechanic then 40 years plumbing and gas fitting makes you a little useful. Luckily Van 12 years old and can’t complain try and look after it and it looks after you. Just lucky. Still trying to work out does it keep you young or wear you out

I love the tinkering and fixing niggles. For me it’s part of the fun :giggle:
Yep agreed tinkering isn’t too bad as you have the choice whether to tinker or not, however major breakdowns need to be sorted immediately to continue with your break 😬

I'm wondering if that's why my 'washroom' smells intermittently irrespective of the sluice being closed.

Mine just leaks when stood on end to take to empty. Leaves a patch of brown liquid behind.
